The things you learn on the realsurf forums!mical wrote:^^^Urban Dictionary wrote:1. Wizard Sleeve
Used to describe large, hanging or dangling labia.
As in "Holy cow! Check out the wizard sleeves on that broad!"
Now, before I hijack this thread, carry on.

One day...
One day some of youse ( Some already have) will wake up and make your own boards.
And even if it aint using a machine and software, you should go for it. Not much ids said on our sight for the local glassing factory..
Shape SOMETHING, pay your $220 (Plus gst) to get it glassed and ride it....
Fer Kern deerrr..
Sorry, Late night Mike is back for one night only as he has not long seen his "Letter of appointment" and perhapas I should go back to making and restoring boards............

was doing the rounds in manly looking for an almerrick pod and saw they had a few wizard sleeves in ripcurl. they had just got them in this morning the guy said. Now im torn between them. Pod or wizard sleeve? They both look so good..
Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
Every used CI I've looked at has looked crap, the decks have always collapsed. Get the dimensions, take them to your local & get one made up...

Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
Just picked one up today. I hate buying anything endorsed by a pro (particularly KS) but I really just like the shape of that board. I guess he did kind of design it with Al's help. I like his fin template too but feel like a brand conscious grom buying something like this but.......the shape has got me intrigued. I will post a review once I have given it a go. Looks like it would prefer good 3-5 foot punchy surf. Definately not a groveller with the tail so refined. It really just is a regular rounded pin shortboard with the nose cut off and the foam that was in the nose redistributed on the deck out to the rails.

Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
Hey Mark, I got the 5'8 x 19.5 x 2 3/8 althought its got to be the thickest 2 3/8 I have ever seen. Full rails so I guess it can be decieving and it does have a lot of concave in the middle of the board. I could have gone down to 5'6 I think. Its pretty heavy too (well it is for me) given I only generally ride eps / epoxy so the extra foam will help. There is a bit of tail lift but I dont think its extreme, maybe a tad more than a regular shorty. Deep single concave that tapers off right up to the nose. Single to double down to the tail and a small amout of vee through the last 6 inches- just about flat right on the tail. The double concave starts in the last 40% of the board. What really got me is that the tail is like you would find on any good wave shooter, pulled in nicely to a rounded pin. Its got a bit of curve to it too. Mid point I would say is up a bit from middle, just like it was a regular 6'2 shorty then someone hacked the nose off and rounded it so looking at it as a 5'8 it looks like the mid point is forward. I saw a youtube vid of Kelly saying it works best in 3+ foot sucky waves right up to tripple overhead which makes sense when you see the tail. I am not expecting a lot of drive due to the refined tail but the quad fins will help. Anyway, I am hoping it surfs like a good wave board that has a lot of hold when solid and feels like you are surfing on almost nothing. It definately isnt a pod or a fish like board. I will let you know.pridmore wrote:hows the rocker in it, ?, I saw one and was bit surprised by the amount of tail lift....I am shaping a few for some goldy crew atm and they want them for grovellers too, but not a grov shape really, keen to hear your thoughts on it...what dims and wat rocker mate ????

RS has degenerated further by this and other recent threads into a misogynist wank as I believe your "advice" constitutes tacit approval of the denegration of women.
BTW does RS intend to continue with same or reinvent the site into a more commercial enterprise? (same, same)
Appalled. (but then agin this is generically a "male friendly" domain)
