I tried the GL sidebites in a rail-centric board and liked them (Stretch SF4) but in a more stringer-centric board I wasn't totally digging them.
This is the Stretch, I felt it was overfinned with the SF4 set and just wanted to go straight and fast, stay high on a wall. The GLs turned it into a turbo twinny skateboard
This is the other board to show placement, with some funky fins.
I use basically this set in it now (different board)

no, Im not a surfer, Im just a garbage man".
Re: FCS Quads - What are you using ?
I mainly rode a Stretch F4 6'10 with the stock SF4 fins (in epoxy/glass flex) in chest to overhead and a half for the last month at Ulus and Impossibles. For me it performed turns of any arc with speed and drive, fast but always in control, whatever I asked of it it would do, no need to think, perfectly maneuverable in any size. My back foot was always against the tail block, gives great control.alakaboo wrote: ...the Stretch [F4}, I felt it was overfinned with the SF4 set and just wanted to go straight and fast, stay high on a wall. Also tamed the Fatburner this time. Taking advice from Nick "...make your worst board your best board". Not quite in this case. I had problems with it the last time, it would take off at impossible speed and track and do all sorts of horrible stuff, couldn't control the fcuker.
The problem was that I was too far forward on the board (enticed by that wide point forward), as soon as I had my back foot against the tail block the control issues disappeared. The board was then pretty staid and pedestrian, always in complete control, just a reliable wave catcher when I want to outpaddle the opposition (just to get my share, I'm not greedy) and have a laidback surf in up to head and a half (I think it could go bigger though)

Did you recognise the pineapples, digger?
You should see the quad set he sent me recently. Insane.

So cranky you prefer the stretch?

Oh yeah, perfection on a stick.
It seems I'm always about a decade behind everybody else

Don't worry....my McTavish Carver Fish is still my most reliable board.
Much cheaper to buy decade old quality boards.

I've put some K1.2 in front and Glide FCS GX size 50/50 foiled in back in my Bourton Silver Bullet. Seems pretty good, especially in sucky surf.
Re: FCS Quads - What are you using ?
Might look at that for my Fat Bullet.
Re: FCS Quads - What are you using ?
Dropped down to PC2s on my daily driver, with G-L trailers. Works nicely. They're too small for my fishy board though - it has a hip in the outline just in front of the side fins, making it plenty loose.
