I didn't want a full wood deck as I like flex in boards but still wanted some stiffness when I step up to 6ft + so the mix wood d-cell is the best of both worlds. I also want to ride it as a pure single in clean head high + surf.

All credit to Josh, I have the whacky idea and he takes what I say, tells me what works what doesn't and then builds something functional and amazing. Stoked! Hanging to surf it.
Good one ....ya gotta watch that Josh fella he goes putting ideas into ya head .....
Wood bottom or top ?
:D :D
D Cell bottom and D Cell deck with wood strips, then normal wood rails.

All jokes aside I got my board today......the slot machine. I have had many many boards in my life but none as sweet as this. Yes....I know, I know I just got it and of course I am going to be stoked.....and yes I havent ridden it yet and it may go like a half flat air matress...but that board is faultless .....the weight, the planshape, the rocker,...and the finish...let me just say that Josh is a true craftsman and a fcuking good bloke too. I am definately on the regulars list

And while I am at it, put my bid down for $1.15 over everyone else for that first channel quad....sure its too big for me right now.....but when I stack on a few kilos in a few years it will be right and if Josh goes to the big shaping bay in the sky then I want to make sure I have one of his boards to get me to 50.

So sorry everyone...I received a phone call from an anonymous Dubai businessman who has been tossing up between one of mine and one of Roys "High-end Toys".

So bidding closes at $528,000 - Including a custom board sock and freight. Bargain!

................

No, it looks like Freshiedude's in front...for a modest undisclosed sum.

Freshie is on $650.

Andrews Zap...based loosely on Cheyne's early no-nose Lazer Zaps circa 1978. The outline is credited as a precursor to the Thruster. This one is not entirely a retro, but has a good bit of volume and flatter rocker.

Double wings set me a challenge - how to add the step in the rail-line without cutting into the wood and causing weakness. Again customer arm-twisting leads to new goodness...

The Star-fin came later, not authentic to the era, but hey it looks good...

Ive got to say I am so very blown away by the whole JD thing....still cant believe a man could create that board out of some foam, some wood and some epoxy..makes my skills look like I am from a sheltered workshop. I work in an office of non surfers and all of them came in yesterday for a look.....ALL of them were impressed. Whoever gets that quad will be getting a piece of history..dont forget that. Well worth every cent.

Aww shucks Bohdi, you make me blush...

I've been at it since age 13...26 years. I've had a few good teachers but mainly just plain obsession.

Auction closed. Its Freshie at $675...
