It’s OK Nick, I used my hairdressing empire contacts  I think it takes yearssssss off ya. You can stash a few bills under it for good measure.

Watch that frown though you’ll end up with a wrinkle between you eyebrow, oh hang on, there’s already one there.

Such focus and determination, only a Carroll could muster that... I think you just bloody scare your competition into submission.

Now get on the speaking circuit ya bum! One word ‘chiselled’ :D Mrs kNickerless  is a lucky lady.

I don't care what anybody says......I reckon NC is jealous of his little brother.

When i look at pictures of him....I can see so much sadness in his eyes and on occasions.... lots of anger.

I just wish he wasn't so angry inside.

Yeah, they call you "monkey arms" while you catch all their waves

You'll gain a better and less obvious paddling rhythm over time fongy don't worry.

The Taiwanese translation. I'm not kidding. Someone over there called us and said there was a market, could they do a translation. And they did.
Taiwanese eh? I didn’t look to that extent. They surf in Taiwan or was that where it was printed? Just had another look, it appears a lot of the enquiries on the forum are from Hongkers.

Might have to put you on the speaking circuit, if we can just do something about your appearance and general demeanour. :D
Here is some of that market in Taiwan. There are hundreds of man made breakwalls like this. The place receives plenty of swell after 20+ trips some for business, some pleasure, it's been flat only twice on me. It isn't Indo by any means but neither is Cronulla but people still surf it. But then the best waves probably haven't even been discovered yet. When I first went there in 2002 for work hardly anyone surfed, different story now.

Interesting Taiwan photo. Maybe a few more breakwalls in Sydney aye

Technique helps but you can't beat genetics for paddling prowess - I recall in MP's bio how he was described as having "hands like dinner plates, arms like a gorilla and shoulders like coathangers"... caught every bloody wave he wanted whenever he wanted and was always the first to get back out.

Yeah but you can't change the genetics. You can change the technique.

i dislike you east coast surfers immensely  ...waves like the ones above almost make me want to cry.the surf has not been above waist high in Perth for about a month and a half, heaps of southerlies to boot. :( :( Please east coast surfers, use these new found paddling techniques to catch as many waves as possible and think of us poor wave starved west aussies while you are doing it.

Gee funny I never bothered to read this thread before. Good stuff.
Someone mentioned MPs paddling style and he definitely had an action very close to what Nick was describing. Lots of short strokes using his elbows rather than his whole arm. He used to motor past everyone. A lot of Queensland surfers paddle like that these days. It also helps if theres a big rip your paddling against because the longer you keep your arm extended underwater the more its going to be affected by the undertow.

As far as Taiwan goes I've got an old longboarding mag (sorry to admit this in the shortboarding section) that has a big spread on Taiwan and apparently theres heaps of waves there. Looked okay in the pictures. The waters a bit brown though.
