for what reasons do people feel like they want (or need) to do the grind of the WQS?

Financial rewards can hardly be it ... very very few make much money.

A surfing lifestyle jetting around the globe ... not as straightforward as that. Involves lots of time away from family and friends, not often good waves, stress from competition, and the like.

Ego ...

ps. It could be to prove to oneself that they are a great surfer .... but if you need to do that I doubt that the WQS will help.

5)Abusing people since i was 3
6)known Davo since his old lady parked the car at NN pool road(when it was open to cars) near the "keep clear for ambulance" sign, while he surfed.If i can recall it was around 86/87/88.
Davo is a good kid.

Ive got news for you. You just tagged and released a boot. I found your post a crack up (im not that stupid) .I could have responded to your “ponytail” sketch in a number of ways.
I chose to use the opportunity to big note myself and clarify a few points.
