2-3 Weeks in November-where in the world to go?

Wondering if there are surfable waves someplace you've never visited? Or have you had an injury and want to compare experiences? Do it here!

2-3 Weeks in November-where in the world to go?

Post by loco4olas » Mon Oct 16, 2006 11:14 am

Looking for some input.

Have 2-3 weeks in early November and can pretty much go anywhere in the world for a trip.

Any suggestions?

If your in europe, check out Prague for a few days. I got home from 6 weeks in euro last week and must say prague was one of the favs. Pints of beer= bout 80cents, good heavy stodgy food, and stunners all over the shop. The tongue is still sore from tripping over it many many times!!

Hmm-more interested in surf than beer and my wife may object to me chasing girls........

Hear Prague is a great city however.

Maybe France. It's starting to get really cold but you would definately get swell. And if your in Hossegor its only a days drive to get down to Mundaka which is also coming into season.

Or Mexico. Puerto Escondido would probs have good waves around this time.

OK. How's about Rapa Nui? Maybe a bit late in the season but should still get plenty of size.

Or Madeira. Better check if Jardim do Mar is still surfable. A breakwall was proposed.

What about the Kamchatka? Bet no-one from your local has been there.

The Tuamoto's? Morocco. The Andaman's. Bloody hell! It's a long list....

If you are going with your chick hit the maldives, great waves but a little romance as well.
Costa Rica would be my choice though.

When I was living in San Francisco-I went with my wife on a trip she was working to Beijing and we flew the N route-up along the coast of Canada towards the poles and then down over Kamchatka during the morning-it looked like an amazing palce from 36,000 feet. As an aside, on teh way back we flew over Japan on a clear night-amazing views of the lights of Japan's major cities.

We are somewhat limited to only going where United airlines flies (wife's employer)-so Europe, America's (North and South) are in-but not the more obscure spots like Andamans (my dad's been there-and an ex of the wife), Azores, Madera etc. Just too expensive with 3 kids in tow (an no-they arenot bringing their boards).

Leaning towards:

Brazil-friends there and good weather/culture.
Argentina/Uruguay (but not great waves-more culture).
Portugal (but cool at that time of the year).
Hawaii maybe, but concerned about frothing early season locals (anyone who has been there early season will know what I mean) and been there heaps.

Any other suggestions? It should make for some interesting realsurf surf reports-getting a little jaded reporting the same crap........

Matt
