Noosa
I'm heading off for a couple of weeks up Noosa way in a month's time. Tossing up whether to take a mal and a shorty or just one or the other. Has anyone had any experience with longboards and Virgin? Is it easier just to take the shorty and hire a mal on the small days?
Hey man,
I went up to Noosa earlier this year & didn't take a board, I think it was a mistake to not take my shortie.
My advice is to take your shortboard & don't worry about the long, too much of a hassle to get on the plane etc. When you're up there go to Noosa longboards to hire a longboard if it's a small day, I hired a board for about $25 for 4 hours, but the price goes down if you hire for longer, I think it was something like $60 for 4 days. The guy there was nice, used to live in Sydney & was very chilled out, I'd definately recommend it. The shop is on the main strip in Noosa, the opposite end to the carpark (I guess it's the southern end on the western side of the road)
Take some pics, hope you got better surf than I did!
Cheers

5 minutes drive away from Hastings st/chardonnay poodle st you have open beaches that you probably would only use a short board anyway. Alexander bay and Sunshine beach are the go.Alexander is a nudist beach so as well as getting slotted there is some eye candy. Sunshine beach on its day can have some of the best banks youve ever seen. Then of course there is Frazer blah blah blah....
and if your determined to surf the points...just hire a mal unless youve seen the weather pattern and a cyclone is in the area.
If you dont take your short board your an idiot. Full stop.
