Europe in September

I'm off to Paris for a conference in September.
I'll have a couple of days afterwards to head for a surf before coming home.

I'm not going to be able to take a board with me but will have some space for a wetty.

I need three things:

cheap private accommodation - along the same lines as a pubstay or something.
hire a decent board.
nightlife would be a bonus

Also consider doing something cool sightseeing-wise instead.
I’ve got to spend a couple of days in Paris with the cheesenkisses first, then i’ve got a couple of days to myself.

It’s either get the train to Amsterdam and sample the cannabis culture, or tick another overseas surf destination off the list.

But with only 2 nights available it needs to be pretty easy.

You could get the train to Biarritz in about 4 hours.
It's like the Byron of France.
But really, I would go to an art gallery or two, drink some wine, eat some good bread.

Better off waiting till you get home for surf.
Sounds like more hassle than it's worth in this case.
Unless you really, really need to say, 'I surfed in France'.

hire a car, hire a board, get a go out, drink the local wine , eat the local cheese and bread etc etc.

you gots to tick those French beachies off the list.

Sure, be the schmuck taking shots of the Eiffel Tower too.

Best day in Paris we were walking to get somewhere. Happen to pick this little cafe for breakfast....best food we had in the city. Not different but just fantastic quality. Kept walking along the street and found the Rodin Museum in his huge house. Brilliant stuff. You need to have time to goof around or you won't find anything.

Have a crack at getting to the surf if you want but realistically it will be scouting for some other time most likely.

If it's anything like Santa Cruz in Spring. Fcuk everyone had hoods on....and boots but that probably more for the rocks. Wasn't that cold with a 3/4 mm wetsuit. Could have got by with 2/3 mm. Autumn I guess would be warmer?

Thinking of going to Portugal next year around then actually.

I surfed Biarritz in September and didn't take a wettie because the forecast was 19 degrees in the water and 22 air temp.
It was more like 14 for both and I didn't appreciate it in my 0.5mm wetsuit top.
