one month in sumatra

Post by smallhouse » Sat Aug 02, 2014 10:38 am

Oct 7 - nov 6 . This will be my 7th trip to Indonesia.
I'm looking at getting out to the telos or banyaks, semi feral.
Not too worried if i get waves or not, i just enjoy being there.
That said, any advice appreciated.
I speak good bahasa, average surfer, to give you an idea : i loved macaronis but wasn't good enough for lances right.
Tempt me :)

Found my way to the banyaks.

Erwin from the floating surf house made me a late season offer too good to refuse.
Arrived to find myself the only person there.

Got dropped off at the overhead barreling rights, where I got a couple of careful ones , before bailing to the perfect , easy left across the bay .

Ended up staying 11 days, offshore till lunchtime every day. Surfed the first swell till it died, and got another one not quite as big.

There ended up being a couple of surfers off 2 yachts sharing the waves, and one day, a charter boat. But they left to surf the famous break.

9/10, will return :)
