Re: skin exposure. My wife's mum and auntie have had a few melanomas and basal cell carcinomas cut out. Her Aunties nose looks a bit how ya going after the operation. However they are pushing 90 and used to cover themselves in coconut oil and baste in the sun. Also the whole cohort drank like fish and my father in law and his mates played music in nightclubs and hung at the beach all their lives. Kicked the bucket at 90. My parents were nowhere near this in terms of lifestyle and packed it in by 67. Buggered if I know about healthy lifestyles.

As to living......our servants can do that for us.

Bump.

Anyone have experience with the cream/light treatment for BCC ??? - long story short but one on nose needs action but that method is contraindicated - options are Aldara, hack into it or do nothing and wait and stay gorgeous - already done biopsy - or explore this other witchcraft which they can't do here and is exy which is no prob if it's going to work.

Have active issue with melanoma on other bits so not fcuking around here

This very evening I just went and got a script filled for Efudix, which is similar to Aldara but only used for 3 weeks as opposed to Aldara which from memory is much longer.
I've got a SCC (squamous cell carcinoma) on my bottom lip. Quack first said it was a plastic surgeon job, but biopsy showed it is shallow so he wants me to try Efudix first.

I've used both Aldara and Efudix before, makes the area inflamed and angry red while using the cream then settles down over the next 2 weeks after stopping. They don't even know why it works. I suspect it makes the body's own immune system attack the abnormal cells, but what the fcuk would I know.

SCC and BCC are not that dangerous if dealt with. Melanoma is a whole different kettle of fish.

If I end up having to get a plastic surgeon to cut it out, probs get a boob job in a package deal.

Thanks for that mate - will check out Efudix. In the morning when I'm sober :| But yeah Aldara just attacks the abnormal cells apparently.

Funny I got this plastic surgeon (who is awesome and I totally trust) already dealing with the other melanoma shit and when I asked about my nose he said yeah sure if you want another more expensive scar just come back and see me

Update on BCC treatment on face/nose - seems latest and greatest is Photodynamic Therapy - less invasive than surgery or creams - though exxy and Mediscare doesn't cover it - if your doctor doesn't mention it it may be that they don't do it and don't want to lose your business. May or may not be the case.

Mate had it done said it was great. I'm booked in - have to go to Qld to get it done.

Have to stay gorgeous you know.

Though as Mullet said if melanoma you're going to lose bits. If you get it early. Otherwise you won't need those bits anyway.

Get checked. About five people a day kark it from melanoma in Australia.

Funny my daughters had a couple of dubious moles cut off and she has always stayed out of the sun, used tons of sunscreen, etc. I've basically been fried since birth on the Nth Coast and I've had a few sunspots and basal cell carcinomas cut off. Mother in law and her sister are pushing 90 and they have a couple of melanomas...but who gives a Fcuk if your 90?

I've been using the Efudex cream on the cancer on my bottom lip for a few weeks now, and it has festered into a hideous canker that makes me self conscious about leaving the house. This is as planned, time to stop the cream and see how it heals.

I don't want to trivialise it Brian, but a BCC shouldn't be a problem to treat.
Update on my use of Efudex cream as reported earlier, it got rid of the SCC on my lip without the need for surgery. No sign that there was ever anything there.
