I have been looking at a trip to Tonga to stay at the surf camp there.

Anyone been. Surf ? Accomodation ?

Are non-surfers happy with the location, camp etc

Thanks

As I remember there were about 5 or 6 breaks within walking distance and a short paddle accross the lagoon. You could probably get info on these waves through a surf travel website. Great fun hollow waves but a little short. Really shallow and only surfable on the higher half of the tide. The wind was mostly variable while I was there (feb) but would probably be offshore in the trades during winter. Also got to surf a world class right hander on the outer reefs at about 4-6 ft.

As for the camp itself, it did the job. The food was unreal, the accomodation was basic but good. Not much else to do other than surf, which made it hard during low tide. It may have changed since '94 though.
