inconsistent beaches

Post by keen » Mon Dec 26, 2005 11:16 am

hey guys yet again another flat day of surf in cronulla and i ask myself this question... is cronulla the most inconsistent beach in the whole of Sydney!!!??? i mean like dont get me wrong when there is swell its good but it seems like i am forever surfing 2ft slop at cronulla. i know there is not much swell around at anywhere right now but at least when i travel down/up the coast i can find something rideable....
so i pose this question what do u think is the most inconsistent weak break in sydney or new south wales even, cos sadly i reckon cronulla is up there

For me BONDI is the most overratted beach in Sydney!!!

Just a bunch of surfers who think its cools surfing nonbarreling pieces of crap slop and trying to live in the image of the cool surfer dude!!

WHY?!?! THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER GOOD BREAKS AROUND!!!!

My two cents anyways

Bondi can get good-its just obviously crowded cause its an icon and people from overseas have no idea where to go in Sydney-so they go to the place they have at least heard of which is easily accessable.

Just like in California-people flock to Malibu and Huntington cause its all they know and have heard of.

bondi like any place can get real good however these days are so far and few between that its laughable.

however i do find bondi to have better quality then maroubra although it doesnt pick up as much swell

There is no way Bondi is in the same league as the Bra on a good day...or Tama when its big for that matter. However it has its moments and the general level of awareness in the water is a few pegs down from a lot of other places. If it gets hollowish or a bit bowly then 75% of the crew can't ride it :D
A rare day to see it hold over 1.5.

Collaroy. Don't even try to argue on that one. It's in the southerly lee of one of the coastline's biggest rock platforms, so it gets, like, 10% of the generic south swell. It's totally exposed to the north-east which means any seabreeze turns it into a flushing point for the whole Narrabeen stretch. The only swell available is from the east-north-east and the direction is utterly wrong for whatever lame-arse bits of reef linger around the pool and so forth.

If you're a beginner, it's a great place to go!

R U GUYS SERIOUS!! Cronulla is not the worst beach in sydney, nor is bondi, maroubra, or any other beach cuz the situation in summer is the same for every friggin' beach on the whole of Sydney's east coast..Fickle, 1ft, NE windchop... Say no more, deal with it, surfin constant crap makes surfing good waves all the more while.

Peace.

Was going to say Freshie, but it's actually consitantly crappy. I'll go Terrigal - dead flat when other beaches are pumping, happening when other beaches up there are not????

I agree and I disagree - Collaroy is not Sydney's most inconsistent beach - it's actually Sydney's most consistent beach as it's consistently bad.

Collaroy has had some waves this year. The block was good a few times when there was a n/e swell & wind and the southerly came through and it was good, for Collaroys standard anyway.
