Watched this young lass skate Sydenham a couple of weeks ago. She was killing it.

^^ Just realised she sold me my board last year at Basement.

My son's skating journey has take n off in the last few months. A new skate park opened near us at Meadowbank and he's down there every chance he gets. I haven't seen him skate for a while but apparently he's way better than the last time I saw him.

He's also gotten over his issues with dropping in to the 4ft ramp we have at home. So happy days. Just wish he'd show some interest in something else as well, but at least he's passionate about something I guess

What’s the meadowbank park like? Only a 15 min trip for me

Yeah, my wife bought one off a company in Brookvale I think. I thought it was way over the top, but coming from a classical music background where parents fork out 10s of thousands for instruments it's not a big deal to her.

It separates into 3 parts and sat on our driveway for a few weeks because after we renovated the front a couple of years ago there wasn't enough space beside the house to get it into the backyard  Ended up getting someone to dismantle it and reassemble thankfully. (I could have done it of course but it would have taken a couple of weekends and a few tantrums).

I might post some pics but don't have a shareable photo account since photobucket.

Seems a good setup and very popular. My wife takes him in the evening (lights go off at 9.00pm) or he's down there early sat morning to avoid the crowds. One large bowl (seems much deeper than Sydenham), another smaller double bowl setup and a number of other smaller ramps and street stuff.

It blows my mind what councils are prepared to do these days. I keep telling my kids we had to build our own 'in my day' :)

My son is improving however gets intimidated by the crowds at the local parks, as good as the Mona Vale setup is, it's perpetually packed.

Have been considering something like this.

I was down at Helensburgh skate park a couple of days ago with my daughter (on a bmx-skateboard hybrid together, she's 3) and had one of those Little Things moments.

Young, rough looking dude down there, by himself, just doing a few runs with his boombox absolutely blasting....The Best of Fleetwood Mac. :)

So incongruous, I loved it.
