I reckon your ghost should be the first picked then a semi-gun you can trust.

Would have liked a single conc round pin quad shortboard but they weren't around then. PS check if the boat/resort has a serious GT spin outfit and some stickbaits and poppers you can borrow.

6'1" Ghost
6'9" roundpin.

And either a 5'10 fish or a 6'3" roundtail quad.

I took three Jim banks boards when I went. All rounded pins. A 6’5, 6’9, and 7’0.

Surf was 4-8 foot the whole time. Surfed the 6’5 for most of it.

The rail length of the 6’9 felt too neither here nor there.

And surfed the 7’0 at 8 foot thunders and 5-6 ft scarecrows. The 7’0 went well at big thunders, was overkill for scarecrows

If I had the time over I’d have probably made do with just a 6’5 or 6’4, and pack a 6’0 in case it got below head high, and maybe a 7’0 just i felt I needed the rail length on a big day.

Didn’t get to surf rifles but we passed it by. It looked like to type of wave that would reward a longer rail line.

Make sure you surf hideaways if not already. That wave is bonkers.

fwiw

channels go v good

stay around your favourite length, the boards should kinda back each other up in case of snappage etc

Like me, I'd probably take three boards all between 5'11" and 6'1", all kinda different but all in that range, and a 6'5"

Mentawai waves like rocker, you're pretty much always riding on a curve, so fat flat little things and almost-guns get annoying after just a coupla waves.

Don't overthink, it's not a difficult surf zone, you could just take one board and ride it the whole time if ya wanted.

FWIW Phil Myers is putting out a whole bunch of stock boards thru Sideways surf.

You could have at least picked me up for spelling Doris with two R's ... ya big girls blouse.

There should have been some nice waves down your way this morning.

Speaking of Doris's ...

(and no its not mine, but its pretty sweet looking in the flesh)
