I've started using lances left as the proxy spot to check.
Surf Forecast is predicting 100-200kJ for Lances Left.

I hope they are wrong.

Duty free gin or tequila....possibly vodka.
I found tequila and coconut water a nice mix.

Beans speaking with authority on that matter. He’s our NC when it comes to the technical details of alcohol consumption.

3 spirits for $90 when I went through duty free recently.
1l and 1.125l

But in Indo all I'd want is a beer after a day surfing.

100% Buddy. Taking spirits in a surf trip with old mates is a recipe for disaster if you wanna surf loads.
FWIW Steve. You are on a boat yeah? They will have beers available for about $3 a can on the boat and there are islands that they’ll go to to stock up. If I was you I’d take one case. The boats and camps like the margins they get from beer off the Aussies. But on boats they are limited by the amount of booze they carry because they’d rather put another bed in a boat than store beer.

Just buy your beer on the boat mate, fcck taking hard liqour, you gonna be surfing 2-3 times a day in intense tropical heat - plenty of time to get pissed at home.

Did you order the nasi lemak on board?

I assume you'll have a day in Padang. Try the nasi Padang at Pagi Sore, that is served in the traditional hidang style. The fried chicken and beef rendang is excellent.

Oh lagers like Bintang and Carlsberg go down a treat in the tropics.

If you get loose after a few Bintangs and post the results here. I’ll put $50 in that Pacific Film account of yours.

I was lucky enough to surf Icelands pretty big on my first trip to the Ments in July 2006. It was the first wave we surfed, due to circumstances. It's basically the closest break to Padang if you're on a boat trip. We were on John McGroders boat, the Barrenjoey and got held up by one of the guys not having his passport up to date, which caused delays, so we didn't leave Padang till midnight. The crossing is about 12-14 hours so we knew we weren't arriving for the early. We crossed the straight in a big storm that had most of the boys on the trip turn green, throwing up and calling the captain to turn the boat around and head back. He ignored them thank fcuk. He'd seen the charts and had flown from the NSW Sth coast for the swell. In the morning he threw us all into the speed boat to get to the breaks. When we asked him what boards should we take, he just said " pack the biggest board you've got". With the stormy onshore shit fight of the straight we weren't expecting much but John's comment had raised some eyebrows. After about an hour and a half on the speed boat we rounded the corner of Sipura Island in the morning, skidded through the little straight between the main island and the small adjacent island and the sun came out, the wind was offshore and we arrived at Icelands, looking at these heaving tubes and not really knowing how big it was until we saw a guy doing tow ins off a jet ski.
He got a couple and then came over to the boat, chatted to John for a bit and then fcuked off, leaving us with the place to ourselves. We paddled over and one of the guys snapped his brand new unridden 6'6" Simon Anderson just duck diving a set wave.
John showed us the ropes, where to sit etc but then a big set rolled through which had us all scrabbling for the horizon. I knew i wasn't going to make it over the second one so i spun on the first one that was peaking and tried to handle a late take off. It didn't work out. Next thing i knew i was about 100 metres inside wondering what the fcuk had happened. It was Icelands washing-machine and rinse cycle. Good thing was Icelands is a kind of deep wave reef that pushes you toward the channel if you get caught inside.
Next wave was the best left hand stand up back hand tube i think have ever had. Just a big cavern that hit the reef just right and ran. Got lucky. Kicked out and paddled out for another but everyone wanted to go to Telescopes so that was the end of Icelands.

Calm down you stupid cnut, it was in reference to Beanys post about tequila and coconut water or whatever. Buy em on the boat or take a case you struggler. Allow $40 per day if you dont take em.

Carroll proven get again that even though he has dedicated his life to surfing, he is still a bit of a kook.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a fcuken cnut.

Lil bro christened that spot on a 7’6” Parmenter widowmaker, I surfed it quite a bit in the late 90s, it’s a deepwater reef as protrayed by the Duck, a 6’ wave doesn’t even break on it and it wants to be 10-12’ real size before the reef’s true shape is revealed. Once the interval drops to 14secs the swell refracts differently and doesn’t hit it any more. It kinda feels a bit like the west swell left between Jocko’s and Laniakea.
