a little under a year ago i was at a retreat on the north coast of Bali. I'd join a few guests in sunset walks along a shit strewn with rubbish - nappies, cow dung, plastics of all manner - shoreline, to the western point to view, over a distant power station, what they considered a spectacular sunset.
mind you, they were mostly from Switzerland, Germany and France ... and I'd be all "oh, you reckon that's a spectacular sunset? ... Here's a few I snapped while at work in a mindless capacity on Syd Harbour just last week ..."
"oooh la la, ja ja ja"

Fast fwd ... dins with my son up at Bondi Diggers golf club the other night (and many before), this phenomena was recalled, well, the sunset was, like, a fcuken gazzillion times more spectacular.
and with 12 buck goat curries, 6 buck Cab Savs, just a few friendly locals there, and, well, why would we be anywhere else?. (and, the banks were all time for that week, but that's now history...)

Yeah, i know, it's all relative.

I can cycle up to Vaucluse now, grab a fine feed of fresh and grilled fish ('n chips) from one of the best f'n'c shops around, and saunter over to Dudley Page reserve and marvel at, arguably, the most spectacular sunset, setting and all, in all the fricken world, from a park bench.

It's a token, if even ameliorative distraction.
The werld's in turmoil.

Let it rain let it rain let it rain.
