Shark attacks in the Northern Rivers: the list

I know it's incomplete ... but this is what I'm going with, just year/month/place .. Bruns to Evans Head.


1964 – June at Julien Rocks: fisherman killed.

1982 – March at Tallows: surfer has his legs bitten.

1993 – June at Julien Rocks: diver killed.

2008 – April at Lighthouse Beach: bodyboarder killed.

2014 – September at Clarkes beach: swimmer killed.

2015 – February at Seven Mile: surfer bitten.

2015 – February at Lighthouse beach: surfer killed.

2015 – July at Lighthouse Beach: surfer bitten.

2015 – September at Evans Head: surfer bitten.

2016 – April at Lighthouse Beach: surfer bitten.

2016 – September 2016 at Lighthouse Beach: surfer bitten.

2016 – October at Sharpes Beach: surfer bitten.

2016 – October at Broken Head: surfer thrown off board.

2016 – October at Suffolk park: surfer bitten.

-you can add I think it was sept 89 attack at boulders, board bitten only. and either a month before or after attack at half tide at evans, same result.

also 8-10 years ago tommo got his hand bitten fighting one off at wategoes

I take it that we're not including real estate agents in this list.

Lennox Head, was there an attack a year or so ago!

Yep ... well a bump, but Breatheasy is blaming the rocks on that one.

Back in mid 60s a shark bit a surfer at Lennox and for a long time that was the only recoded attack on a board rider in OZ.

Also a fatality happened in the 70s @ Tallows, he lost too much blood by time they got him to Byron hospital.

A friend had his board bitten at the creek mouth between broken and Suffolk, early 80s.

A Wollongong surfer had his board bitten @ Lennox in 1976....it was a San Juan and they made him a newby for nicks because they wanted the bite outlined board for display.

Wubic, I've been googling all day and believing everything I read - it's only bullshit if someone knows better - and the hills are alive old mate, some of the old boys up here still remember Dr John, and I'm f.cked if I know how Dylan scored a Nobel prize for literature and Cormac McCarthy didn't!

laz, the 82 attack at tallows. pretty sure that's marty ford and that was a fatal.
