Bunny hop, half spin. Oh wow! fk off.
The pros know that a plain air reverse is not going to get points.
Mind you, JJF's air reverses were pretty good.
Really? Why the hell would he risk an incomplete ride by performing a non scoring manoeuvre.

For me, there's just somethig about Mick's left arm that draws a face of a kid being forced to eat brussel sprouts.

Dunno. Maybe it is such a natural move for him. But the half rotation air reverse consistently barely gets scored, or never more than a standard lip bash.
A full rotation always gets BIG points. Maybe he was hoping for that. A full rotation and he would have won.

Interesting to listen to commentary again. The almost 10 score - meaning several judges did score him a 10 which means 'perfect' is bullshit. The one that interests me more is Fannings first wave. Generally a competitors first wave is very conservatively marked but I think he got 7ish for it. Watch it again and listen to the commentary. One of them actually apologises almost by suggesting that yeah, it looked pretty basic but really folks, it's much harder than it looks. Then watch Florence. Remember, he's in competition on his final ride and he risks it by putting his board in the air and nailing it not once but repeatedly. That is very much harder than it looks folks and while you would be ignorant to deny Fanning's ability to do it he doesn't or it as rare as unicorn shit. Florence needed an 8.61 to beat Fanning. If Fanning was awarded a 9.71 on his almost 'perfect' ride of a speed wiggle waggle two float, one carve and re entry close out its not unreasonable to think JJF's final role of the dice would earn him a 9 at least. If that final was in Rio and Toledo or Medina were in it and did the same as JJ do you honestly reckon Fanning would be getting handed the trophy? WSL show time has to run to the script. Forget White Lightning. Fanning's role in the pantomime was set up to be 'Great White Lightning'.

Actually, when the score of 7.17 dropped for Fanning's first wave, Ross Williams said 'I think they got that exactly right'.

Ill just quote the famous whore Christine Keeler by stating "We'll he would say that, wouldn't he".

Finals are always overscored - can't have someone winning with an average heat total can we!
