Raised stringer

Post by Gumby » Sat Dec 12, 2015 7:44 pm

Hi all,

Anyone have any magic remedies for dealing with a stringer that's sticking out a fair bit in the middle of the board (which in actual fact is because the deck around it has sunk down to make it so)?
It's not causing any dramas really, but interested in anyone's take on it. Any examples out there where the glass around the immediate area has eventually shown signs of stress from this happening?
The board is only just over a year old. I've got a couple of other boards (not the same shaper) that are slightly older and show no signs of this.

Tah

Sounds like a dud blank. How often do you surf it? I reckon a year out of a board is OK.

Sounds logical Jimmy.
On average would use it 2-3 times per week, and was pretty much the only board I used since getting it.

Not sure about your remedy, but considering that prevention is apparently far better than the cure. Don't leave surfboards in cars or direct sun ... it fcuks em.

Eventually stringer will break through the glass. If it's bad enough you can feel it with your foot through the wax, probably time to start considering the next one.

It pretty much has broken through, or at least it looks like it. Only in a small section. Have been applying extra wax around it to keep it water tight.
Can feel it with my foot easily.

Dam, just realised I have left two boards in the car since Friday.
