I spoke to the guy, he had no idea what he was holding on to. I couldn't get down there.

Hatchy, why did you delete your post suggesting you would have picked the board up as you only live around the corner?

Well I would've picked it up for him. But it's now too late, therefore a pointless post.

Have you had a go out on it yet ??

 it's a total shutdown. There's uncontested waves off magic point though if you don't mind a small hike and grey nurse sharks

Wonder how the parents feel

Also, how are those dims too big (admittedly I'm big for a surfer I guess, but they seem tiny. Website says 28l give or take; but if your parents bought it just keep it until you grow up a bit)

Also, what kind of board is this - no dims given and photos with the board balanced on its nose, mmm. But it just seems an odd shape. Maybe it's just the square tail confusing me

It was a 13 second period.,out of the east north east. Bondi faces south so misses the full brunt of that swell direction. Exposed beach breaks in long period swells tend to be wide and straight freight training dredgers. Sure you can luck into a wave here and there with a pocket and a bit of a run. But for the most part you'd be much better off on a point or reef in those conditions.

Exhibit A: a Sydney beachie on a long period east swell. The top pic shows the width of the beach. That single line of swell coming in square is over 700 metres wide at least, as the beach itself is 1 klm wide . The bottom pic is just zoomed in on a small section.
