Nothing too recent. The latest one was that $50 carabine belly channels thruster. Surprisingly it goes like the clappers in overhead groundswells.
Still keep an eye out though.

Last week a mate of mine bidded on a "bulk buy" of five boards through eBay. The ad wording betrayed a rubberneck (much like misplaced deck grip does) and the photos were terrible, but he thought he could see some potential. Without making a fuss he lobbed $300 down and won the auction.
His hunch paid off, among the five were a first gen Energy thruster and late-70s Shaun Tomson single fin.
Shit like that keeps you trawling the second hand sites.

The alarm bells go off for me whenever I see somebody posting up vintage surfboards with the measurements in "centimetres". Straight up you know the seller has no idea whatsoever about surfboards

Well, I personally, am very kind to those novice surfboard owners who have somehow managed to obtain a prime bit of surf gear.......and don't have a clue about its value.
My personal best was a McTavish Carver Fish for $285.
Put your big boy pants on
I mean, tastebuds? WGAF?

I got this weird old 8'0 Pipedream singlefin the other day from coolangatta cashies for the missus to get back into surfing
i didn't bother looking it over too much, just saw that it was 8'0 and a singlefin so figured it's be funboardish. shaped maybe 1990 here on the goldie but not by murray bourton.
Ha not quite. it's thick but it's narrower than it looks with turned down bitey rails and a vee bottom out the tail which is cool. I swapped that fin out cos it was really stiff and put in a flex fin which loosened it up and allows it to turn from more in the middle rather than having to stomp on the tail.
Dunno how she'll go on it but I reckon it'll be fun on super crowded days at the point when it's head high and well over.
weird shape and the decals are ugly

My wife has one like that but 7'4" and 2+1.
The glassing is terrible, the tail is asymmetrical, the nose foil must've been done by a blind man with cerebral palsy and it looks like a total dog.
Thing is, it is fun as shit.

really? this one is shaped and glassed well, it's got a decal on the tail block stating that Pipedream was the 1989 Gold Coast Surfboard factory of the year lol.
it's just an odd shape. Like a big wave board for a really fat person. take the fluro decals off and it's got elements of transition era boards with the wide point back and vee bottom, but shaped with a super 80s chunky box down rail.
it'd actually be super dreamy if it just had 50/50 rails instead.

Not a pipedreams board, some shitty shop brand from SoCal.
Similar outline and rails.

on overhead currumbin alley that thing would dominate. I'd love to have a crack on it.

Nature hates a straight line but I don't know how keen it is on Erle's jet bottom's either.
Still admire them but...

Supposed to be good on longboards and boards for fast bowly waves.
If you think about it, that's damning with faint praise.

Here's something to make up for it 'Boo: Darren Handley's homage to Erle Pederson.
