Mik, I think its in your best interests to wear the shark shield all the time. I can sense something terrible and ironic happening.

Today's attack is the first shark attack EVER for Shelley Beach (the one near The Entrance). The guy only suffered very minor injuries......it's still too many precedents for comfort.

I believe that the beach is netted.

This the weekend I usually head up to Norah Head, might have been an appropriate play on words.

Good and fair bit of reporting from Surfing World (via Coastalwatch) by North Coast NSW resident, Jed Smith, about what some locals reckon about the sharks.

Classic piece of misleading and factually incorrect information.........

"The North Coast is flush with river run-off and a thriving aquatic eco-system. The area stretching from Belongil, to Byron’s north, all the way to Lennox Head, has even been turned into marine sanctuary meaning recreational fishing close to shore is forbidden allowing marine life in swimming areas to flourish. Commercial fishing operations, meanwhile, run as efficiently as ever just off the coast."

Seems like it (with regard to the thread title). One of the tagged resident sharks swam to the south coast.

This is bloodytraumatic. The surfer at Evans Head, the poor bloke who tried to rescue Tadashi. So very sad.

Ay, ay. Wacky shark attack shenanigans at Lighthouse Beach, Ballina this arvo.

They've got a taste for it now.
It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again

Yes, serious bites to his thigh but he did manage to paddle back to shore to get help. Happened at 6.30pm. I'm assuming that visibility was good,as it was in Sydney. Just plain unlucky.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

If it had been the former non-DS time of 5.30pm the attack would have been described by the press as occurring in "late afternoon" instead of "this evening".

It led to some dickhead posting a comment on a news website that if he had not been in the water at dusk then he would not have been attacked. :-?

The NSW shark management strategy of patrols to reassure tourists is backfiring. Check this:
https://www.facebook.com/Shark-Reports-716586421776202/

They're getting a sighting almost every day on the Ballina to Byron stretch. It might be better if people don't know how many sharks were sniffing around.
