Begs the question how many of ''The Ballina 7'' came across the dead whale and had a chomp on it before it washed ashore.
How long was it out there ?, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or more, one report said it drifted down from the north.

The whale that washed ashore at the same beach in 2009 was pretty much intact compared to this one.

Here is a photo of the whale that was washed up on October 13th 2009.
Check out the circular area under the whales mouth where it appears that a shark has only eaten away the blubber.
