Na, not out the front but nearby. Only works in particular circumstances.

Been watching a bit of the Boardriders Comp this weekend. Highly enjoyable. All very good surfers, as expected. Then the CT surfers like Conner O’Leary turn up, so next level, as expected. The speed is noticeable. Far out the pros are amazing.
Lots of Channel Island boards I notice. The Fever seems to be popular

When someone drops in on you, when they stare at you as they paddle in to the wave makes it feel so much more personal.
It's like they are using lube instead of going in dry.

So relaxed too. His fcuking arms, especially his forward arm, doesn’t flail about. He doesn’t seem to need it to counter balance or generate momentum, especially through bottom turns. His body is always so centred over the board, no awkwardness. Unique style. Can’t believe that dead arm thing he has going. Everyone says it’s a skate thing but a lot of surfers skate and don’t have that style in the water.
