I’m never been there for that. The CS might have more competitors, but doesn’t it have a shorter window, less built structures, less hoopla and less constant bellowing loudspeakers?

Same loudspeaker but everything else is right.

Way more impact down here from CS because of the massive number of competitors/entourages etc etc- they call come down in packs.

I just figure the CS is more like school holidays whereas the CT has a much more oppressive footprint.

The one time I went, the loudspeaker announcer was seemingly live calling the event. It was appalling. Imagine going to the footy or the cricket and there was some loudmouth on a public address system giving a live commentary.

I don't mind having the Challenger Series here. Its good for the economy and Snapper is the perfect platform to hold a contest.
The infrastructure doesn't have any long term impact, but it does create a carnival atmosphere, when they cordon off the Snapper Rocks Rd. Beach announcers serve more than one purpose at surfing contests, and actually help both the competitors and spectators alike. Anyone who finds surfing contests an affront to their senses should probably stay home in Brisbane.

You prefer it as a second tier (CS) or top tier (CT) event?

I much prefer it as a CT event.

I'd definitely prefer it to be part of the Championship Tour. Snapper is usually a pretty fair playing field, giving contestants an even chance, as opposed to somewhere like Margies, which apart from the final day was more of a lucky dip. If the WSL insists on implement a mid-year cut, the least they could do is give the surfers a fair crack at it.

I'll probably mooch down to the Challenger Series event for a few hours at some point ... I like most forms of surfing and the loudmouth commentary associated with it.

I’ll check out some heats seeing as I’m still not back in the office much. Last event I went to was the one that Owen was gifted as part of his comeback fairytale.

It’s sad Lennox missed out being similarly blessed.

It would be interesting to know what the 92% of the Lennox population who didn’t fill in the questionnaire thought about it all. Probably quite keen I’d have thought

We only have the results of that questionnaire mate- a pro contest rival questionnaire was barely answered.

Anyway mate, we won the argument in the public square and then won the political battle.

So what you think isn't even on the fringes of being relevant.

I think I may have told this story before.

The day after Council overwhelmingly rejected the WSL proposal, Lennox Point gave us a perfect Bluewater, 6ft day. It was like the Point itself was grateful and in return was offering this incredible gift back to it's protectors and stewards.

It was like a dream. The happiness of the recreational surfers out there was overwhelming.

True ... I was just practicing my interspecies communication.
