Last time I hung around here in another geological era I was accused of exploiting the Petersons, along with a couple of blokes just generally having a go because they could. Felt like walking into a small town bar. Fair enough. So I moved along, no real reason to waste perfectly good free hours floating around here getting shitcanned. Shame, I like the style of the place. I know Don from when I lived in DY. I don't look at the site. Got the heads up from a reg re Steve's comments, not Nick. Nick and I have had many differences in opinion and many agreements. And if history is any guide we will in the future.

As for the comment that kickstarted the shitstorm : that I was unpublishable for 20 years while gatekeepers like Carroll and Doherty preserved the status quo.....that might have been a little overly dramatic too, but close enough to the truth. You and Nick were the established surf journalists, the status quo.

You may have not "gate kept" me personally but the Hynd anecdote does kind of prove my point.

Without his strong petitioning and you hand balling the story my way there's no way on God's green Earth I would have got the jersey.

As for that coming back to bite you on the arse and me making life difficult for you, or some imaginary editors; that all sounds like a bit of empty drama too.
You've done well, nothing I've said has impacted you.

Carroll trying to paint me as some kind of flake suffering moral crises is pretty wide of the mark too.

I'm happy to put my record of producing the written word, on time as contracted with little beef with editors up there, anytime.

It's all just a bit of argy-bargy.

But my point: that the surf media was too close and too pally-wally with the people it was supposed to be reporting on, and that the nexus with the surf industry was compromising, has been admitted by Carroll himself.
