surfstich have really done a number on the industry, huh?
hope they don't go under, where will I get my 140 buck adidas shoes for 60 bucks that are like walking in pillows and at that price
I get them as work shoes with tread as sticky as a pair of volleys but actually comfortable! or my 80 buck hurley boardies for 30 bucks?!
or my 50 buck singlets for 15 bucks?! and so on and so on.....
ah i know ... i was buying everything from there. so much so i hadn't set foot into a surf shop in about 6 years.

i had to buy wax and some solar cure the other day. holy shit. some little girl with big where's wally glasses kept calling me 'man'. if i thought for one minute i could handle hard time in jail, i would have killed her with a coat hanger.

Nup, they've done a number on themselves.

There is a bit of overreach about the Destruction of the Surf Industry I think.

Surfstitch went down the time tested path of greed and hubris.
A clever business model grows very nicely, get attention of big investors, the bucks start flowing, management gets egged on for more and more growth, they overpay for often ridiculous acquisitions, find out they can't bed the lot down, over promise and under deliver, balance sheet gets stretched and the early supporters are long gone. Enter the vultures.

I reckon the surf industry is great at the moment. With the demise of the major players so many small creative players getting involved and making great stuff.

Yep.

Local "garage" style surf shops selling great stuff for fair prices.

One example. Smart Leash Co. that actually sell each component for a leash.
FCS cnuts stopped that years and years ago.

Steve, I expected far more from that 69 video than you delivered. I'm expecting girl on girl tongue work and I get an old wolloper spitting at the plebs. Don't care if he was the Man thirty years ago.
