I had a great time last wet season, but it never rained a drop the whole time I was there, not even at night.
I think you just don't like going right.

If you look at the stats around 80% of the rain usually falls December to February, but for the last few years that hasn't happened.

It's never too late to change.
I spent 20 years going predominately right on the east coast. For the last 20 years its been the lefts of WA and Indonesia so I got out of practice, then realised there was no good reason I should bother with the, mainly overcrowded and rare, rights in both those places

I've been ignoring the advice for years about my back and the size and type of boards I ride. So I'm biting the bullet and looking to ad a long board into the mix, I'm looking at a performance long board about 9ft, been looking at the TJ Pro. Any other boards anyone can recommend?

No no no. Don't get a performance longboard mate. Just get a modern allrounder. Big difference. The wider nose will suck in steep stuff but your DVS all rounder will be the go then. Performance will be too narrow for average waves and still feel big in decent waves. Just a modern one will do most things without feeling like an over rockered weird thing.

I tried a perf one and it sucked and am no expert. Had a Jackson modern longboard that was great. Not good for steep lol

Jackson is defunct isn't it?
Rabbidge, Takas, McTavish, Wilde, Bennett..........the list goes on.
Why don't you try getting a Bic Nat Young Model. They're actually supposed to go great.
Actually thought I might start dragging the mal out more often this summer.

I know nothing about LB so the advice is appreciated. I was in Bennetts yesterday and realised I had no fucking idea. 9'4 looks enormous to a general short board rider. Didn't get a chance to talk to Tank at Bennetts. Rabbidge a good idea as well now BF has given me sage advice to avoid an expensive disappointment with the TJ Pro. Will check the Sunrise, Goddard mids look great.

If you can get a Rabbidge board.....and they do come up now and again.....in my opinion he is one of the best longboard shapers in Australia.single fin of course. He is quite reasonable price wise if you get a new one.
I used to love my Taka but it didn't have the manoeuvrability the Rabbidge had. Had a Bear Paul Hutchinson performance model but I didn't like that. You had to ride it like a short board.
A lot of the retro logs young guys are riding have similar characteristics to my old Taka only more so. Pivot turns only. Tending to run in a straight line.
