The Top 50 sportsmen

Post by Over55yrs » Tue Feb 17, 2015 9:58 pm

BRW Top 50 Australian Sportspeople Earners - interesting that Mick Fanning is listed at number 17 earning $2.7m in 2014 and Stephanie Gilmore at $1.75m (and 5 surfers in the top 50)

she surfs better than 99% of men. I saw her do the chillest fade into a massive tube you could fit a holden torana in today. Never seen a chick do anything like it

I said Steph was still way ahead of all the other chicks a couple of years ago and Aaron dedicated a detrimental thread to me. Truthfully, I don't think anything's changed - she is an exceptionally talented surfer. My favourite bit of that modern MOTE movie was her on a singly

If she's a sportsman, Id turn gay for her

I'd rather watch her than all but about 5 of the men's tour

I like the way that women surfers like her and Layne don't have or need entourages or minders and are happy to mix with plebs like us.

Layne's a mole who knows she couldn't hold a candle to Steph. That's why she reminds everyone at every opportunity about how many titles she has.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Yep. She looks like a fcuken reptile and is resentful of the fact that she is so far behind all of the current girls and has lost all relevance in only a few short years.

I reckon if you surfed in an era where female surfers got 4/5ths of bugger all prize money and sponsorship, you would use every opportunity to self promote as well.

Pretty rough comments mate.

Have you actually met her out in the surf? I have and she's lovely. Amongst other things she was encouraging the local grommets and swapping boards with them.

Not to mention her charitable post-retirement activities.

BTW, I don't think Nick C whose photo you have appropriated for your avatar would agree with your comments either.

nothing wrong with layney, she does carry on a bit but it's outweighed by her achievements.

Pauline Mencer never made much cash out of her title.
