the mighty Iron Peg, Sat morning.

the top of the Peg is a ten foot extendable gaff shot above mean sea level at this tide.

Still trying to work out the best board design for days like this. You need a seven foot plus board to deal with five or six knots of current sweeping past the peg and a lot of curve to deal with extreme hollow, backwashy takeoff. Maybe a seven three quad with forward focussed outline and a curvy, pulled in tail.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Christ you blokes are hard task masters. Give Shearer a break here, that shot was taken from the ox ... everything is uphill from there.

2 guys. They were getting seriously worked but were not out of place. They scored some gems too. Judging by fitness and skill they knew what they were doing.

Best paddle in effort I saw was on Saturday. Jeremy Wilmotte out at wedding cake. 4+ times overhead and washy swell. Certainly not all clean as the pic on SN shows it up as. 10ft plus Aido wheeler gun. one the side fins had been ripped out. he surfing with only 2 fins left on it. Crazy stuff.

What time Hatchy?
We dragged ourselves down for a look after lunch.
It was miserable and three guys out on The Southie.
Didn't see a rideable wave.
Big mushing lefts out the back.
Wind howling from the south.
Put your big boy pants on
I mean, tastebuds? WGAF?

Shot this one last year after sharing the footpath with Shearer on a walk from Kirra to Rainbow.

Thats right Spork ... the horizon is crooked ... anyway I like this one, and while its not a great surf shot in the classic sense, its a nice photo all the same.

Having to drastically reduce the image quality to post it here doesn't help.

Nice shot Womble, straighten your horizon in any photo editing software, its worth it.
This is Port Macquarie doing its best Indo impression. I'm pretty sure that is former bodyboard world champ Damian King pigdogging in there.

well that's the sort of shit that goes down here in this effete namby pamby cube monkey overpriced Mexican restaurant aspirational dog walking mediocrity hell we call Sydney

in a world gone soft, some men, well a few men, and maybe one or two sassy tough talking yet vulnerable women, take on the wild ocean with nothing but their bare hands and some hilarious mid wipeout wisecracks, and emerge battered yet unbowed having Conquered Furious Nature.

Sydney kicks arse when it counts buddy, don't you forget it

Sydney is the greatest city in Australia.

Actually my last visit there was interesting and I never had a chance to post some impressions. Maybe today.

xcept the surf looks fun as hell again and some of the sandbanks have been improved to an almost improbable degree by the weekend's south swell.
