Agreed, Shep.
I want to see you with a take no prisoner approach on the hallowed sands of Snapper Rocks. Repeat the mantra, "No Mercy," daily to yourself. Write it with a knife onto your thighs and across your forehead.
Vlad the Impaler wouldn't stand for nonsense, nor should you.

I've been boning up on the law all day.

the main thing Braithy is, as I'm getting escorted off public land by some roided out Gold Coast bouncer/rent a cop in a choke hold screaming bloody blue murder, you film it on your I-phone.
There'll only be one take.

Re: QuikPro Forey
make sure u get bashed while being filmed, you know, tell old roid boy dragging u out as your head is at groin level 'hey, that looks like a penis, only smaller!' then after the court case/settlement your financial woes will be solvedsteve shearer wrote:the main thing Braithy is, as I'm getting escorted off public land by some roided out Gold Coast bouncer/rent a cop in a choke hold screaming bloody blue murder, you film it on your I-phone.

Tell Russ Corowa to back you up Steve. I'd like to see them try to tell him he couldn't hang on the rocks at snapper and play his didge.

Really!? I was gonna stay up here this weekend but looking at the forecast decided to fly back to Sydney cause I didn't think they'd run. I thought mid to the end of next week was more likely..Braithy wrote: Strong word is they want it to run Sunday and possibly Monday Shep. You got your mouthguard fitted?

surfnet has the Joli story re rights for photogs and another story re pros using Go Pro's whci when one reads both stories there is a really interesting situation here because will the pro's sign over copyright to their footage, I doubt it, so what will they ban kelly from competing if he uses a GP and won't sign over his rights?
What if another surfer uses a non GP camera, will they be banned. What about Jounos writing stories, will they have to sign over copyright to their story and have it 'sanctioned' if they get a pass to the event.
The whole thing is a try on by whoever is wielding the big stick and it will blow up in their faces if they try to police it. Sounds like open invitation for shearer to gain mainstream notoriety

Yeah, Sunday it seems they want to run. Whether that be the girls round 1 who knows?
That 1st round of mens is a killer. 8 hours of surfing. They really do love getting it out of the way early in the waiting period, then picking the eyes out of tides, swell and wind combos for the rest of the period. Especially at snapper, where high tide ruins her.

Yeah, the more you dig into the media accreditation rules and parlay that with pro's contracts with non endemics and go pro sponosored riders etc ..
If the mantra at the new ASP is, we are not going to allow people & companies to make money out of the new ASP ... well surely the surfers themselves fall under that umbrella too?

Well then they're gonna struggle to run all of Rd 1 this weekend then given the huge mid morning tides this weekend (and combined with a weak windswell)Braithy wrote:Especially at snapper, where high tide ruins her.

Re: QuikPro Forey
I just got back from there.
The bank is superb and very shallow.
They'll have no probs running in two to three feet of any kind of swell from the eastern to south-eastern quadrant, no matter how low the period. If they have SE winds it'll be side/offshore and they will go, go, go baby.

Not possible. Copyright belongs to the creator unless they are designated employees. Law is clear.
