I'm on it, Huie.
They haven't even submitted a proposal, they're just angling for a casino licence.

I reckon all training walls should go.

Good luck on the noosa bar, it'll be somewhere in the middle of Hastings St.

Didn't say it was a bad thing.
Boaties have been dictating coastal policy for far too long

Isn't that likely to continue? Lots of money tied up in them boats

Here, the boating lobby is on the increase. Started a few years back when someone realised there's lots of Sthn Bluefin off the coast in autumn and winter. Big trailer boats go straight past Warrnambool to Portland where the ramps are safer. Because of the vast sums of money that represents, W'bool Council and business leaders are paying more attention to redevelopment of the local harbour

Not likely to change soon, though still surprises me how much clout they've got.

With muddock tooling around in superyacht Les Masquerade, anything's up for grabs.

Yeah, there's also the feinting to distract from what's going on closer to your place.
If you've got more info than that then let me know, it'd be useful

Bob Ell is right down the track of a classic Gold Coast property developer, except harder and probably smarter.

He's been playing the politicians for decades. His connections have allowed him to get away with flagrant flouting of land clearance laws around his northern NSW land holdings. He had the NSW Labor govt in his back pocket.

The only thing holding him up right now is changes of Govt in both NSW and Qld. In NSW it's gonna take him time to work his way back in. Likewise in Qld; Campbell Newman might be a wigger but he is not yet entirely captive to the likes of Leda, Clive Palmer etc. you want to know the background to all this, go and have a look at what Dennis Hughes's brother Lester got himself tangled up in back in 1991, when the Goldie's last developer house of cards fell apart. (Remember Christopher Skase and Jim Raptis? Nah probably not)

The answer here is in the hands of the Gold Coast CC voters. They either boot Tom Tate next election or they don't. If they don't, well, they deserve everything they get. You indulge yourselves in retarded local govt, you reap the fcuken bounty.

Yeah, that's all well and good and exactly what I was saying before the elections, but you can do a fair bit of damage in 3 years.

fairfax reported that the broadwater terminal is more or less dumped.
they also said newman has refused another casino license to the goldie.

there's a pretty good community resistance forming here on the southern goldie.

koby abberton lording on instagram:
I'm pretty sure the only reason people go to cooly is to surf. I know if there was no great waves there i wouldn't go.'Good waves make towns and Kirra is one of the the best. Add it up Tate u fukn kook. If u turn kirra into a boat terminal you will ruin the coast. Surfers will just go to other towns and the coolangatta will be nothing. Good thinking Tom Tate.

Yeah what's it they really want? An estate at cobaki?

The only direction people care to look at right now is coastal.

Oh for christ sake give the fcukers Cobaki. And let them plonk a casino smack bang in the middle of it too. Whilst we're at it ... bung in a cruise ship terminal at the headwaters of Cobaki Creek. With a nice little cruise ship permanently moored there for good effect.

The Cobaki Creek Cruise Ship Terminal and Casino Estate, what a gas. Condominiums and three story walk-ups. The biggest Aldi store in the southern hemisphere ... and a whole street full of 2 dollar shops. This could really work ... Steve could drive the courtesy bus ... Skip ... captain of the ship (that never leaves). Braithy could be the goofy but cute paper boy ... although he'd have to change his name to Scooter ... and dress like Huckleberry Fin.
The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.

Just a few things there

- Cobaki Lakes and Kings Forest have been part of Leda's portfolio since the early part of this century.

- The land is in NSW, not Qld, and is therefore subject to NSW zoning regulations etc. Qld has no bearing on it. The chances of the Gold Coast surf community doing anything about Leda's NSW landholdings = zero. The Gold Coast City Council's oversight on Cobaki Lakes or Kings Forest = zero. The Qld State govt's oversight on same = same. So I dunno how this Bilinga farce qualifies as a distraction from that development.

- Back in 2007, Leda and Bob Ell were pulled up in NSW state parliament by the Greens' Cate Faehrmann for illegal land clearing in the vicinity of their Kings Forest landholding. The Tweed shire council declined to prosecute as did the NSW govt of the day (the Labor Party, with whom Ell was very friendly). Since then there's been a change of government in NSW and in the Tweed shire.

- Cobaki Lakes and Kings Forest no longer qualify as a state significant development project under current NSW law, though Leda did its best to try for that status through their connections with the former Govt.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

well yeah fong I am kinda with you on the need for land development. Australia's a big country and there's plenty of demand for housing from a growing population. The population projections for southern Qld are out of hand and they're not all gonna live in a nice old frangipani fringed Qlder in the hinterland.

What I don't get is why so many of the recent housing developments in that particular area of the world are so down right shit house. Why they lead almost inexorably to social dysfunction of the kind that causes nasty little Govts like Campbell Newman's to go apeshit on laws that really should never need to be passed.

You want more Logans in the vicinity, well if you hand large tracts of land over to brutalist developers who think they're allowed to make their own rules at every turn, that's what you'll get.

Maybe if the NSW and Qld Govts aimed their legislative might at the developers -- opened the door to their business opportunities but enforced tough guidelines designed to make the developments work into a good social framework -- then things like Logan wouldn't happen.

I myself am not sanguine about this, the entire history of housing along the Australian coast and around most of the cities has been one of unremitting destructive ugliness, almost a hatred of the continent being expressed through building. But the population balance in changing now, so maybe things can change.

None of this has anything to do with that idiotic proposal at Bilinga, for fcuk's sake, that's just a stupid joke.
