Laird TV Commercial

Post by bc » Tue Nov 16, 2004 8:22 pm

I've just seen Laird's new ad for American Express.
Much as he has earned the position to take advantage of his position, was this the way to do it?
I guess I got no right to judge him on anything, but geez, I hope they paid him well.

At the risk of appearing a complete DOlly reader, the girl in the Coke ad is Malia Jones, a reasonably well respected surfer (and, it goes without saying, a complete and utter babe).

I reckon the ad is legit. They could have used some pretty boy and girl and just cut in surfing scenes, but they used real surfer and real surfing. Coke's got a track record - you might remember the Coke Classic?

And the Laird ad? The more surfing on teev the better. Why is he a sell out? Is he any more of a sell out than any other pro surfer?

If you got paid to just surf and not have to worry about a real job wouldn't you do it. Think about it as you are currently sitting in an office somewhere possibly even wearing a tie.
Al this is gold. "She didn't realise I was fairly high and spent much of the evening trying to figure out why a purple and orange cow wanted me to climb a tree."

I can think of about 3,500,499 blokes I'd pay NOT to surf - and that's just Avalon

itsits an etchy topic because some people will claim its bad for the sport because it will make more people join and hence more kooks while some people think its good thing. Me, i think its allright, dont have anything against it

with all the hard work he has put in over the years, he deserves to be financially rewarded.

i reckon any chance to look at The Laird is a great. After I see a hot babe on a mountain of a wave, I couldn't even tell you what the commercial was for. Coulda been for depends for all I care.

Laird is waterman extraordinaire.

Yeah, Yeah, But its a bit like knowing that porn stars do it for the money. I thought they enjoyed it or are they just fantastic actors?

Don't about you but I think that if I tried reeeeeaaaally hard, I could be happy being as good a surfer as Laird AND be rich financially at the same time. Tough work, I know.
