So after Parko's blunder on Tuesday you'd think any serious competitor would be ready to go at any time.

Today Restaurants is firing on and off and the contest is ON - so you'd be ready to for your heat. Right? After all, you've trained all year and you're after a world title.

Then Taj tells us in his post heat interview that while he's over at Namotu he heard the waves were getting windy so he was thinking the contest was going to be called off. He's all ready to go out at Cloudbreak for a surf (where he'd be out of contact). Then luckily someone tells him he's heat's on any minute and he has to scramble to make it in time.

FFS! What are these guys on? Is the kava A grade or something? Aren't they on Tavarua ready to go from the moment there's even a chance the contest could be called on? I don't get it. If you're working towards a world title you've got to be ON IT. No wonder slater has walked away with them year after year.

BTW John John is the new KS

Could be. He's even getting the nod on tight decisions ala Slats of old. Damo's last wave was more than enough to take it out, but judges couldn't pay it.

The scoring is a little wacky in the upper range IMHO.
Anyone know what the surfers have been told in regards to what the judges are looking for?
I know in other events they get a heads up that "open face carves" will be scored (a la Bells) so what's the go here? Looks like some guys are killing themselves to get barreled for as long as possible while others are getting shorter ones and throwing in some turns.
Anyone??

they are surfers
their support consists mainly of surfers
they have barely 10 brain cells each to rub together
they do not think
they surf

I'm getting fcuking sick of hearing how all the pro's just wanna have fun.
Like, having fun is fine and all, it's just that's all they ever say.
Jordy Smith, I'm looking at you.

Yeah, I was lucky, I got a few fun ones.
Jeez it was pretty fun out there
I just wanna relax into my heat and have fun
As long as it's fun it's all good
I just wanna to take each heat as it comes and try to have fun

Fcukin hell, it makes me want to puke.... with a little bit of green bile envy at the end.

contest been good to watch so far. who's going to beat John Florence ?

scenario. JJF v Kelly in the final, they both get perfect scores(20). what would be the outcome ? what's the rule ???

p.s im trying to remember who's got perfect scores before, Slater & Parko, Beschen(old score). Did Flores get a perfect 20 somewhere ? must be more anyone know ??

JJF and Kelly are in the same side of the draw. If they proceed they will meet in the semis.

A drawn score is resolved by a count back to the top single wave score. A 20/20 draw is unresolvable under that system. Maybe they'd go to the third wave but since there's no compulsion to ride a third wave under the two wave total system, that wouldn't work either. I guess it'd go to a re-surf.

Oh yeah perfect scores, Shane Beschen (3 10s in the days when three waves counted), Kelly, Parko, Jeremy.
