Byron

Post by Hedgehog » Wed Sep 29, 2004 11:50 am

Me and the lady are looking to go to Byron for a "romantic" getaway, (if you call me surfin and her sittin on the beach/point romantic).

Just wondering if anyone knows some sweet accommodation up that way. Looking to go up sometime in November.

We stayed at the Beach Hotel and it was really nice. Right amongst it but the room was nice.
Al this is gold. "She didn't realise I was fairly high and spent much of the evening trying to figure out why a purple and orange cow wanted me to climb a tree."

Try the local Real estate Agents

Post by chrisb » Wed Sep 29, 2004 1:05 pm

Phone the local real estate agents (Elders, Ray Whites etc) if you want to stay in self-catering accomodation ie. house, unit etc and they can send you a booklet.
There are some nice houses out of town up towards Clarkes Beach/Pass and at Wategos (starting at about $600 p/w off season).
The Arts Factory at the cheaper end of the budget (and the town) is OK too so Iv'e been told.

What's the matter with the backseat of your car come to think of it hog?

- or that grassy little patch in the cnr of tallows where the sand mining plant used to be?

- or under those palms halfway between the pass and clarkes?

- or in a tent up in palm valley where we used to bury the goats we ran over?

(i'm in the wrong century again ain't i?)

I've got a little shack out Possum Creek way and me, Linda and Zac would welcome your company. Don't mention facelifts however,

If you don't like to be in the middle of it all, Brunswick Heads is only around 20 mins north of Byron and is a quiet town but still coastal. Pub is OK

Nah, Laz, you're not in the wrong Century. I'd love all of the spots you mentioned. Unfortunately, the missus has become accustomed to the "finer things in life", like toilets, and silly things like that.

Get a cabin at the Broken Head Motor Camp or pitch a tent there. Cheap as. Waves out front, Byron up the road, jiggy-jig up the beach...

I've stayed at Rae's (was earning pounds and didn't have kids then!) and it's ideal for a Romantic weekend but a bit up itself. The Beach Hotel is half the price and right in the middle of things. Most the other places in Byron itself are motel style places - some are ok but they don't have much character.

I stayed with the family at Byron Bay Farmstay on Bangalow Road.

It's about 5 mins out of Byron toward the hinterland. It's a great spot - 4 cabins, on some acres, with the last remaining bit of rainforest in Byron. There's cows wandering around outside, the lighthouse goats are there now, and there's a pond you can paddle around on too.

It's not too flash, but it's a great place to stay - away from the township too.

If you're keen I've got the number and some photos.
