I think it's go to do with lighting for the webcast.

[quote="Breathy"]

And this morning, two black labradors were fornicating while and anxious 11-year old boy tried to break them up. I tell you, that little grommet has more stones than me, coming between to big black labs like that![/quote

No word of a lie, I rode past those slobbering hounds and the kid on my way to Bells this morning.

Big pooches.

Pretty simple answer (for real). According to Max Wells pres of the Victorian something or other at high tide there's a safety issue with kids and families on the rocks at the base of the cliffs. Limited access.
Thats what he told me.

It seems believeable in this age.

Surely, that can't be true?

And here's me thinking it might be so the pros can have it. They'd be pissed off if the groms got Winki and they had to surf shitty Bells pre event

Well they could remove access, there's only one way down. They could rope off the steps. Or perhaps the contest brand is more important than the surfing?

well a big part of the whole thing is charging people to access the comp.

They gunna charge 'em and then tell 'em they can't watch it live?

Don't think that would wash with the Victorian public.

Possibly, maybe I'll set up a little rope and charge admission to mum, dad and the kids to Winkipop.

Whats a fair price?

$50 for the family for a three hour pass?

None.

It's a historical loophole. The excuse was that the ticketing charges were spent on Bells reserve upkeep. In fact, at least in recent years, much of it was spent simply on site setup and breakdown and general cleanup -- in other words, managing what the contest had already made happen. It's prolly all gonna come undone when ZoSea takes over next year.

Boy oh boy some long running deals are gonna fall in a heap then.

Another money spinner creeping into Victorian sport is to deny the fans bringing their own refreshments. You set up a little stall on your side of the rope and you'll be rich come Monday. Apart from outrageous prices, the cold stuff must be warm and the hot stuff must be cold

Years ago when they took the comp down to Joey they were charging $10 to get in, I told them to bugger off as I came to walk me dog. Thing is they reneged on paying the fee that was agreed upon with parks to pay for the rangers to stop the punters from wrecking the place and clean up afterwards, said that in the end they had run out of money <:
