Actually, he said less, not fewer.

Given how careful Nick is with grammar, this could either mean that they are even shorter than they were in 1979, or that the surfers of Newport are less hardcore than they used to be.

newport lost its hardcore when they started selling pink lycra shorts at coles, and the olderbrother took a bunch of girls out on paddlebards at avalon one sunday - all of which was witnessed and recorded for eventual release when the time is right ...

OK counted to 10, realised what might happen if I did that.

gonna take a slightly saner road.

Calling Moderator Trev:
The poster calling himself "nuffink ngo" has made repeated and extremely nasty slurs in these forums against a surfer who killed himself by jumping off Newport headland some 13 years ago.

The surfer's name was Andrew Murphy, an incredibly nice guy originally from Cronulla who came to live at Newport for most of the '90s. Beloved of all who knew him, Andrew nevertheless suffered from a serious psychiatric illness that caused his suicide.

Nuffink Ngo has repeatedly mocked and made fun of this event from behind his nickname cloak, and his comments have and are likely to cause great distress to any of Murph's friends and family who happen to read them. Yet he continues to make these comments, despite clearly knowing the effect they're likely to have.

In view of this I humbly request that you ban the fcuker forever and wipe the site clean of his postings.

^^^imagine what would have happened if you'd come second.

anyway to me this sort of thing is infinitely worse than getting in a slanging match with a mod. It actually has the potential to cause serious harm to people. That's why I pulled back from my first reaction, if some of Murph's friends found out what nuffink had written on here, then found out who he was, they might behave irresponsibly.

reginald wrote:I too knew Murph and he was a genuinely nice person. Friendly and generous gracious and humble. To a young bloke from Avalon freshly moved out of home and over the hill to Newport, he extended a welcoming smile and even shared waves. I find Nuffink's posts on this matter distasteful sure but mostly I see them as an ignorant attempt at attention seeking and a lazy attempt at humor. They don't really hurt my feelings or my memories of a good person because it's just random comments by someone who doesn't really exist. I find it pretty easy to ignore and if I can't i'll just block his posts.

I think this is would be an overreaction

That sort of punishment should only be reserved for someone who was victorious in The Top Ten Albums competition.
What a "current" topic for discussion re the media lately.

Well contained guys........well done.

Guys, I just caught up with this thread.
Nick, I understand where you're coming from. Give me a little while to look at this. I have noticed NN's occasional digs without realising their full import and I appreciate your posting the story.
I have an idea. I'll come back to you shortly.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

OK.
I've not banned him.
But all his posts are gone.
I'll also send him a note.
With a warning.
His new life starts from now.

At the moment, hollowed out's post which quotes his comment is still there, as is Nick's explanation.
Should I leave them there?

I remember the first time nfg made the piss poor comments about AM the first time and you rightly gave him a good serve then Nick.
This latest didn't go unnoticed and surprised a bit it sat there before a response.
And to come out of the woodwork for just that comment!?
Yep. Piss poor form.

Coming second or losing as I like to call it would be fine. The mediocre would not feel so threatened by one of their own

That's always been there in the swear filter options. It just seems to surface at random times.
Pretty funny really.
