Don't take the fact that I will be scoring heaps more waves and having heaps more fun when its
not really up to standard as in any way compromising my support for you sitting there looking bored and frustrated :D
And I still listen to the wireless, post letters and travel abroad by cargo ship.

The Gold Coast would be the perfect market for a synthetic or artificial wave pool, Being the Goldie you could play on the existing fame of the "superbank" and call it the superfishial wave pool.

Perhaps they could sell a day pass, or a three in one ticket to Gold Coast Icons - WallyWorld, Wet'nWild and the Superfishall ( or abbreviate To "Super F**K. all " ) >><<
The kids could go round and round on a merry go round and Dad, could do the same at Webberworld. The stuff precious, shared, bogan family memories are made of

The other place that "would just have to have one", would be Dubai- the most superficial place on the planet. A Place where punters are duped to pay $90 for afternoon tea and Dubai already has a 22,500 square metre ski park with five 400 metre runs - in the desert ! So another wave pool would be a mere drop in the ocean of decadence in Dubai and give people's lives real meaning between shopping trips.

See "20 reasons NOT to visit Dubai here" :
http://www.smh.com.au/travel/20-reasons ... 1qwew.html

May I suggest that The surf park be incorporated into -

5.The Dancing Fountains ( visible from Space !!)

or just dynamite and tastefully renovate,
13.Hatta Pools the only naturally occuring feature on the list and way overdue for some sound commercial exploitation.

Maybe they could bail out 'Bong by incorporating a joint-venture surf Boootique specialising in...bong gear and Burquinis, for the local hairy camel-toed pleasants
( made Nice and cheap, with good margins and scant stitching - made In China, of course)

Yea bring up the old 'carrot in outhouse' story again. I have already told you that i suffer from lachanophobia...so there is no way i would have used it (the carrot) as an object of desire.

I,in fact, used the aforementioned carrot as a means of defence.

Can you blame me ????!!!.... I'm a devout student of laconophillia.
I was having a dump when some door to door feta cheese salesman knocked on me outhouse and said "do you like it 'Greek style' ?".
..and i just flipped and stuck the cazza he was eating in his eye socket.

Not sure if having wave pools will solve surf rage but create queue rage. Imagine waiting in line for your turn as it will get crowded someone cuts in as someone invariable will then its on. Also when you finally get your turn and you have been agitated by being in line for so long that you actually wipe out first up but have to then get back in line!

I went a couple of years back to Scotts Head excited about surfing the right but when I got there the owners of the caravan park told me after the last big storms it is no longer there. Really disappointed as I felt they should have put that on there website still had a nice time but crappy waves!

So I am on the fence about man made reefs as I surf at Freshwater as it is a smaller break which suits me but a lot the waves quite often shutdown so I would appreciate a little help there.

The one time we camped in Scotts Caravan Park it was like a cross between an English Sea Side Camp and Stalag 14. Announcements about securing valuables and movie night in the local hall booming over the PA. Cant imagine them giving a rats about the surf. Full of Novacastrians too.

It would seem that all you wave pool poo-pooers live on the East Coast...

Spare a thought for us west coast, or more specifically, Perth surfers. Iiiiiiiif there is swell, it's almost guaranteed to be straight handers, throwing out into an inch of water before you can get to your feet. And yet still crowded.
If you had the technology (and coin) to make a decent wave pool, a surf starved city like mine is the place to reap reward.
I'd welcome it, but in honesty couldn't afford to surf it.

Man you should have been here yesterday... or about 1997 to be more precise.
The bogan Freshwater locals had their chanc and they BLEW IT bigtime.

It was the freshwater inbreds that did not want to enhance the reef on the northern headland.

Much better to enhance the headland with a three- storey poker machine palace , carpark and manicured bowling greens ( Which are used less than there are days of swell in Steak and Kidney) than put in a reef which would enhance the local eco- system and give the locals a few more waves to surf.

So enjoy your straight handers and crowded days longy as a whole generation could have enjoyed the enhanced point surf for the past decade- Freshy locals are all stuck in the past. Did you know the Dook surfed there nearly 100 years ago.
