I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Response from Randwick Council:
Thank you for advising Council of your experience at Maroubra Beach on the 11 September 2011.
I have investigated this incident and will be discussing it with all lifeguards at this weeks new season training sessions.
Unfortunately, when surfers regularly go through the flagged area, ignoring public safety and direction from lifeguards; our staff do need to escalate to a more aggressive approach for the benefit of all.
This may have been the case in this incident however, it is possible that they may have escalated this incident prematurely.
Again thank you for advising us of your experience.

Since Buffed Bozzo has entered into this debate with his usual mind stimulating insights....
How do you figure this out?
We can eat pigs
Pigs can eat us
Pigs can eat pigs
There are heaps of us.
Why can’t we eat us?
P.S Braithy ....never end a sentence with “the pair of you” it usually means your old, neurotic , a disciplinarian and to top it off there’s probably a good chance you look like that horrible red thing from Home and Away.

And well he might be, Steve, but as a government employee, he's obliged to table the response and to take some form of action. I'd rather write an email that may or may not bring a result than do nothing.
Re: Clubbies who surf: a conflict of interest?
Yeah, I reckon that's gold. I politely suggested that, instead of giving them the thumbs up to get aggro, they'd be better giving these guys some basic skills in dealing with difficult situations.nuffink ngo wrote:awesomeajohnsen wrote:Response from Randwick Council:

I mean, Reece Heddle is a government employee and would know full well that to use a bit of aggro on some poor fcuker at the Randwick Council Customer Service Desk is inappropriate and unacceptable. That doesn't change when your customers are wearing boardies and wetties.

ajohnsen, can you send me the letter/email you sent them?ajohnsen wrote:Response from Randwick Council:

I'll forward it to some people. There's a forum on coastal conflicts being put together at the moment.
Re: Clubbies who surf: a conflict of interest?
doubt it. those jobs are some of the most secure in any organisation I've dealt with. You basically have to wait for someone to die if that's the job you're chasing.
His choice of phrasing was perhaps not ideal, but his response is pretty much what I would have written if I was in his shoes. Notwithstanding that the bloke in question in the original email is a royal tosspot, I'd hate to be a lifeguard on a busy beach when the peaks are all out the front of the tower.
