Parko's buggered

That's no ordinary hack.

First Dingo gets popped in a bar and now Joel gets cut to bits by his fin. Hope somebody's keeping a close eye on Mick.

Seriously deep !! I gotta say that I am a bit surpised that there are not more accidents like this considering how hard people push the boundaries .
Trying to look on a positive from this situation ? At least it wasnt his old fella.

Apparently the rumor is that surgeons reckon he'll be out of action for 6 months minimum and may potentially never surf professionally again so serious is the cut to tendons, nerves, muscle, bone and blood vessels.

I am calling bs on that one don .. if Bethany Hamilton can surf with one arm a slice to the heal won't finish parkos career . not saying a bandaide will fix it but not a disabiity causing injury either..

^^
Agree it's probably not a career ending injury, look at Mick's hamstring.

Let's see what it does to his head though.

Regardless of the WCT standings, copping an injury that has the potential to effect how you surf forever is pretty hard to deal with mentally. He'll surf again... other people have been less fortunate.

I reckon he'll be alright. He'll probably get a top notch and very expensive surgeon, everything will be stitched up and re-attached meticulously, and then it'll the same as any other laceration needing stitches :)

(my optimistic side really wants to see Parko do well this year)

I'm with capt caveman on this one. Considering how quickly other professional athletes are back playing again after things like knee reconstructions, broken bones and the like, he'll be back competing sooner rather then later..

It was amazing how quickly the Snapper - Greenmount telegraph worked yesterday.
Within 10 minutes of Parko's accident the details of what had happend were being talked about down at inside Greenmount. The talk along the line up was that Parko had just done something bad and was in deep sht. By the time the news got down closer to Kirra it was "oh did you hear Parko's fkn foot was hanging off at the bone' blah blah blah. It did end up being nasty though.

All the best to him in his recovery.

Not sure where you heard that news Don?
The latest (from the man himself) is that its looking like no pernament damage (at this stage anyway) and he has full feeling in his foot.
