Odd thing that we can - on the one hand marvel at all this - and on the other - as one elder statesman on these forums did a little while ago - post link to alaia surfer as some kind of kookish novelty thing??? Wot with dat?
Me thinks it equivalent to latest trend in pushies with the growth of fixed/single speed bikes...as a return to simpler roots. ie take away all the bullshit ? wot like gears or fins are extraneous bullshit? Maybe. So for the sheer joy and simplicity of it, sure ride a fixy, surf a finless board...what the heck, go out to your discoteque of choice in a loincloth perhaps, damn, why not go and kill yer own meet for a change, strap a horse up and cart yer quiver down to yer local the 'old way'...
Away woi (without internet) recently and picked up Jan/Feb issue of Surfer's Path magazine. Check it out for for some choice quotes from the ol'bastard himself. An example - "Tom Blake added the fin.He inadvertently destroyed the royal sport of surfing. 1,000 years of tradition. With respect, he unwittingly marred the pure essence of riding a wave."

Yep. All of 52. Rebel with out a rudder. Go ol' son. Go.

Oh yeah, and note how frequently the word "FUN" keeps popping up whenever this aspect of surfing comes up. In the same issue, Lewis Samuels gets a bit of a profile, and sure enough, it's the FUN that's missing from contemporary surf culture as far as he's concerned...and it's that hoary old chestnut - Commercialism - that's to blame too!

Derek's a living legend and with our without fins still rips the sh!t-so he's off on a path and he's eclectic-great-more power to him-can't all be potato chip tri/quad clones-and wouldn't want it that way.

Fair suck o' the fcuking sauce bottle Sport. You've been on the Sunny Hoax how long ...and you're whinging about South swells.

Every South swell forecast comes with the following caveat: grading smaller into SE QLD.. Quite often it also says "not likely to penetrate past Cape Moreton."
So if it's 2-3ft at North Wall, 2ft at D-Bah....how big you think it's gunna be on the Sunny Coast?
Thought you were smarter than that Tim.

C'mon where the photos of the fishing lure. More importantly where's the fish, or are you one of these Internet fisherman who spend all their time talking about it to their imaginary mates on the Innernet?
Throwing lures off the headlands at GayBay for tuna is unreal this time of year.

BTW...this rabbit showed up in my backyard and lives here now.
Next time there's a south swell why don't you come down and have a surf(guaranteed bigger than the Sunny Coast) and come and take the bunny home with you.
Gee, how 'bout them Bunnies hey? What a team.

i'm sure it's hard... but guys have been riding stand-up on boogers for years. that's got to be harder seeing they have less rail to turn off and less contours in the board.
