Beautiful piece of writing Steve, I love it! Fear and loathing on the ASP circuit trail...Raw and insightful at the same time.

I can only imagine what it would be like to be part of the world tour circus...demi-gods of counter-culture, foam, and water sports.

Steve- we've gotta here what Necco's got to say and what he thinks of the judges!
3 barrels on a wave and he gets a 6!

steve's probably driving back to lennox right now going over his notes from his day at the beach in his head and coming up with the opening sentence of his report for today. maybe he'll even test a few lines on his wife and kids at dinner tonight, see how they flow and what responses they draw. and his wife will roll her eyes at the hundredth mention of dane reynolds and the thousand mention of nick carroll in three days.

what a piece of work is dane reynolds! how noble in reason! how infinite in faculty! in form, in moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of pro surfers!

watching the rd2 hod and some thoughts;

GP: where art thou style - his style seems a bit whiffy to me, especially that left hand and it's not just because it's forward but stiff. his 5.33 deserved more though

BA: what was that second wave 7.93 and he does an air, hacks, barreled TJH just has to do a few hacks to get 8.33 - something suss going on there me thinks, maybe something lingering at deano's home town

CA: 6.83 for a ten farked I tell youse, your right LA something stinks and it's not SS the ASP wants the old school to get through the cut later on this year I tell youse - they're the big cards and getting towards the end of their time so a bit more moo'lah on the other side of the fence is mighty attractive

NP: well he is old and not a selling card, cut

BT: I haven't watched it yet, he's new, not a selling card - cut and now I'll watch it, ahhh I was right but maybe SS's poster boy did surf pretty good ...

JS: had it, all of it

KP: not big selling heat so either and the barrel did it

FP's gotta win this one, yep ... but I might of misread TG's selling factor
If it's well engineered it's beautiful .

MMM- I think Mr Carroll has been sticking pins in your voodoo doll!

from swellnet-
Steve-
I saw Carroll again. His synopsis: People were putting on more of a show than normal for Rd 1.

My synopsis of his synopsis : "No fcuken shit Sherlock".
Nick-
as Kelly could tell you, revenge is a dish best served cold.
Steve
Well not missed them, I watched then on the Innernet, laid up on the couch with this bestial swine flu

Beautiful raw highlights of the quicky pro SS.

I like having a chance to see Dane doing his thing wearing someone else's rashy, while it just so happens thousands of people are watching.

Very different board and surfing to his round 2 performance, more of the Marinelayerproductions style in my opinion...
