Also I reckon that the goose on the SUP would have caused that section to break prematurely.. If he hadn't have dropped in the shorty would have had a much better chance of making it..

snaking:what someone else does on my wave. Not snaking:when I do the same to someone else.
As usual everyone justifies their behaviour by claimimg superior ability, local status etc.
So if I ride a mal and take off outside and someone does a quick inside paddle to snake me am I in the wrong to fade them into the whitewater?
Does that make me really inconsiderate?

now here's my fantasy surf situation. i swing around under the lip and air-drop into a 12' bomb at chopes, right in front of manoa, raimana, bruce, shane and cory, who are pulling back because it looks a bit heavy for them this one. i make the drop, find a thin line and stand tall, then drop my dacks and start casually pulling my big hard dick as all the photogs go click click click and the big-titted bikini-ed girls on the rubber ducks in the channel go ooo and aaa and a dozen stand-up-paddle boarders go over the falls behind me, and then just as the monster roars and spits i blow my load covering all the photogs' lenses and big-titted girls' big tits in goo!

With all due respect, these guys are absolutely kidding themselves.

Yeah, great drop-in goat, hey, really got cleaned up on that one, did your SUP kill anyone when you fell off, LOL!

Could they be more fawning? He just should not have been out there.

nah, Tobes, it's just like hula hoops and yo-yos for blokes who are on viagra.

Once they realise it's only a circle jerk they'll quit.

There's a big push round here to have them regulated as a vessel and fcuk them off from the line-up.

I rekon sups are gonna go the way of goat boats, especially as they are attracting the same demgraphic, ie. non surfers. If older surfers are on em, they are probably aware of the problem and hopefully are not being dickheads....well thats my my fantasy out of the way, now back to the topic.
Snaking is a part of surfing and always will be if you want to catch waves.
Your opinion is worth as much as it costs.

Toby wrote:Wait and see. I'll be very interested in how beaches look in 5-10 years. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's just a trend that'll fade but I have my fears and I believe this time they're well-founded.
I reckon they are just a fad, and every second northern beaches garage will be full of unused unsellable SUP in 5 years.

That's not to say they will ever disappear, I'm sure that people still have yo-yos in their cupboards, and one or more versions of dingbats (how appropriate that I should remember that fad), but I reckon they will go the way of the dinosaur.

Besides, someone will invent something even more annoying for them to jump on to, like motorised SUP's with a commode chair bolted on, to make them a s(h)it down no paddle board.

You heard it here first.

with all due respect i wouldn't get a jetski even if they were giving them away because they're so noisy, dirty and smelly, and they make it all so easy for me and so fucked for everyone else.

I found that in certain areas of WA that I hung out in eg Maggie , Kalbarri and the bluff...dropping in is very rare.

Snaking doesn't happen much either....esp at Tombstones....it's more like hiding from the bomb sets than fighting for 'em when it's 8-10 ft and roaring.

Snaking or dropping in is not tolerated at Jakes in any way shape or form....but the locals will paddle out and sit deeper than anyone which doesn't leave many for tourists.

I was amazed to see no drop-ins or overt hassling at the Point in this last swell.

I think amongst experienced surfers manners are genrally pretty good....at least in this neck of the woods.
