I got mine replaced at a small factory under Ian Short Sails at Taren Point. It wasn't cheap($50 I think). It depends on the quality of your bag-mine is a good quality one so it was worth it.I seem to remember another thread on this subject a while back where someone had theirs done for $20.

Is it a zip "repair" or a zip "replacement" :?:

If it's a "repair" there is an older thread with suggestions on how to unjam board-bag zips for next to nothing in cost.

buy a YKK brand zip. if it's a flat day, sew it in by hand.

I've got an O&E travel cover, probably not the top of the range as far as they go... but the metal zips are worse for wear after about 3 years. One has broken when pulling the tab while the other is on borrowed time. Salt + metal zips  all bad. Heavy duty plastic would be much better...

Yes just recently discovered that both my board bags had jammed up zips. That then fell apart when I tried to budge them. So perfectly fine bags , the zipper part which is plastic is okay, the metal zip is the problem. Another built in failure point by the multi national surf companies. Plastic zips people.

p.s I have to pay for my surf stuff, I'm not embedded that far where I get discounts and free stuff all the f*!>en time. Though I'm fully aware us such, I'm the dick that helps pay for all that wankerism.

Ps to this oldish thread, there is a little shoe/luggage repair place at Sans Souci that replaced the zip on my O&E travel cover. $25 to refit 1 zipper - the slider part only.

Dr Shoe
Shop 6 191 Ramsgate rd, Ramsgate. 02 93983408 :)

Is FCS owned by Quikky? I wonder... Shit quality on purpose says I.
Best thing I've done with a cover is remove the zip, get it sewn up except for the arse end and using it as a sleeve. Wish I could do that with my flash FCS case. That might just have to go in the bin.

An extension to that idea: Rip out the zip and replace with velcro. You could do it yourself. It will probably add a few more years life to the bag for little cost.

I converted a body board bag that way and it's still holding together 10 years later. I will need to do the same soon with my 9' mal bag as the zip's broken.
