Well not really swimming, snorkelling underneath. The sharks didn't do sh*t !!
The guys scubadiving were kind of like horse whisperers...except to sharks...the just had a mutual understanding between themselves and got only a couple metres from each other..

I probably wouldn't recomend it though

unlike the 'consensus' ... I still don't like how everyone immediately jumps to the defense of the shark ... it didn't get injured unless it hurt a tooth while it had hold of that poor kid ...

and just in case you're not sure ... the last time I looked I'm not responsible for the evolution of human society and how they have evolved to control the planet ... and I have never killed a shark and am not likely to either ... I'm just a bloke who likes grass and has an opinion that injured young kids are more important than defending sharks ... so I think you may be venting your spleens to the wrong guy because according to lessorleast I'm not qualified to understand what you saying anyway ...

The time…. 7pm
The Place…. Avalon restaurant (name withheld) candles burning to set the mood. Probably some incense burning in the background and some Café del Sol music massaging the patrons simple minds into mental oblivion.

Mr and Mrs Frangipanni sitting down to what they think is John Dory and chips(but is in fact ‘shark’ cause they cant tell the difference anyway. all battered and stuff)… washed down with a nice glass of crisp chardonnay.

Conversation topic… horrible sharks trying to eat them.

Mrs Frangi… ‘ they don’t belong there’ (sip sip of chardonnay)

Mrs Frangi gets all hot at Mr Frangi naked masculinity and testosterone fueled aggression towards sharks and they start rubbing each other up under the table.

i was told on friday night that people had been talking last week about a noahs ark hanging around north av.

they've been rolling out various shark experts but i haven't heard them address this question. is mr white pointer more likely to be hanging around nth av for a while than some other beach before continuing his journey north ?

hoping for some semblance of a reasonable response rather than the usual shit....

me no expert ... but I have an old friend I did my apprenticeship with who became a marine bioligist and moved to cairns who I had this discussion with some years back, and remember him telling me that it is based on 'ample' food supply ... he was saying that just because the GW ate something it didn't necessarily mean it would hang around as it was more about tuning into the volume of available food in the area ...

check this book out ... 12 Days of Terror' by Richard G. Fernicola ... it talks about GW sharks in relation to becoming territorial based on the amount of food ...
