surfed S. wall a bit last summer and I was either the only one there sitting in the carpark waiting for someone to show up or there were 2 or 3 blokes out.
I once paddled to south on a king tide that was pissing in. watched a couple of guys crossing going 2m sideways 1 forward. I was with the birdman
and he said lets paddle from the beach, so we jumped in the rip next to the wall for a quick trip out, faaaark I shit myself paddling round the end of north wall. felt really exposed and all the shark stories of paddles flooded my head. after 3-4 minutes though we were well and truly getting pushed downriver and it felt abit more comfortable. no way id do it these days!

Crazy times.
I have a photo taken from the lift at Whistler of a black bear rooting through the snow, between ski tracks.
geez, you would give a rooting bear a wide berth.

I was thinking today about how if Steve got taken by a shark how strange the grief would be, the fact I have never met him yet have been in contact with him online for 7 or so years. No one to talk to about it because it doesn't really exist out of these forums yet still a very real grief to deal with.
Stay safe brother.

Curl Curl this arvo. Yep Curl Curl. Trying to make the most of the south swell direction. Actually had a few banks as well.

Yup....first surf since coughing my guts up for the last fairly long while. Good banks. Really crowded...then it got more crowded as the afternoon progressed. Gave up trying to get one on the main bank. Paddled north. Pissed around there...gave up and paddled up further when a bigger set came though and rolled wide and broke clean right through to the beach. Decided to paddle back there and wait....and got one pretty much exactly the same. Best wave I've had on my new board. Should have paddled in then.

Nowhere. Got the tail end of the last swell and surfed a well shaped bank on Tuesday morning at the main beach in Merimbula. Meanwhile, 6-8 ft at home. Light offshore. Without the string wind, it'd be better than the photos I posted last week
