But........... we're not talking about swell height here. The guys want to measure the waves they're on.
That makes the Iggy scale all the more preposterous. Using his ridiculously low numbers he appears to be referring to swell height: i.e. six feet=double overhead.
Maybe at some breaks that would be true. But...
No two beaches handle the same open ocean swell the same way.
The seven foot 13 sec period swell that hit here made some beaches too out of control to ride and others, nearby but with different bathymetry and orientation to the swell direction, smaller and
more ridable.

You do know the Hills hoist was invented in Australia?
Pretty sure he knew that. Just using a bit of good ole southern sarcasm.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Buoys are not very useful for predicting swell in Perth and Indo. The best ones are cape Naturalist and Rottnest for both, there's usually lots of swell off the coast around Perth, but the bathymetry makes it hard to predict, I normally change metres to feet and then you often don't even get that. Bali is so far away that its days in advance, so the usual wave models are the best option

I've spent quite a bit of time in Hawaii and always get a laugh when I hear some gumby talking about hawaians measuring from the back of the wave, just about every time it was wave face, its the only logical way to describe a wave.

Great scale cranky.
I guess if you only surf when it's overhead to double overhead......

Two foot of absolute slop. Longest wave was about ten metres long, if that.

Absolutely desperate....must do something surf. Pissed around until I went down with only 40 minutes before guests turned up. Got out in plenty of time. Must not do that again.

2 foot plus bowly beachies south of the gong. Punchy for its size but sectioning out pretty quick. Take off late under the lip, put on the sprints, try jag in a quick sharp turn before it shuts down. Oh well. At least it was a bank to myself on a mostly deserted beach.
Lots of southern cross tattoos, bingo wing arms, and cruiser motorcycles on full display along the main drag in town. Shit coffee, expensive burger but the chips on the side were OK.

Saltman's point break. Windy. Fat except for a walled up take off. I didn't surf it til nearly midday so missed the best tide.
