Not really. Waves not good enough. Close out basically.

Saying that, seems there’s an accepting surf community that fosters competitive surfing and isn’t too worried about Covid or parking.

So cool. Yeh JJF and Thud having some herbs and schooies of Olds back at N. Avoca with Thud encouraging JJF his Mum needs a cuddle, could be on!!

Yeh, why not man.

BTW if it comes I’ll stand on the beach and wave a giant Pakistani flag so you know it’s me.

#Lennoxheadssurfersnotuptoscratch.

Truthfully Steve, you lot carried on like a bunch of spoilt brats. Knowing you don’t have the grit or dedication of the peeps wanting to surf your break. Grit, the word. A soft underbelly at Lennox in disguise. But, deep down you might know this. Maybe not.

Tell me, what was the issue?

Yes, Snapper a couple of times. The event at Manly a couple of times.

Have you?

Once at Snapper. I noted that maybe 5% were watching the surfing. It was only a heat and the tide was way out. It was a bit of a shitshow, a lot of people crowding around the beach front and looking at the various pop up shops. Quite noisy with the loudspeakers blaring. I lasted 20 minutes. My mate lasted 5 minutes. The same mate and I had a unit booked on the beachfront for the 2 weeks of last year’s snapper pro. We decided to go for the full experience. It was covid cancelled. Probably a lucky escape.

Lol why would you book 2 weeks at an event you don’t like then be relieved when it’s cancelled?

Agree about the loudspeakers. Surf events at all levels think they need some twit crapping on in a senseless manner.

We felt we should give it another chance. We do enjoy the top heats online. Watching it from the balcony with a beer in hand, observing the whole mise en scène from a safe place, and then wandering the 80 metres to the point if there was a great heat happening seemed possibly congenial

absolutely.
best way to do it.

Unfortunately the trend over recent years has been for the corporate stands and shitt to increasingly obscure the live view for spectators.

low tide down at the waters edge is best viewing, but you get cooked in the QLD sun.

Yes, good line of sight is hard to get. The particular unit we had booked is not blocked by the trees or the WSL constructions

no doubt you get the atmosphere and the emotional impact of a ride and a heat being there live.

but you see way, way more of the surfing action watching the webcast.

Of course, NRL on TV is better than being there. AFL is just a big mess so doesn’t translate well to the box however, it can be great at the game if the beer is cold and you can access the NRL app to stream the games.

*I love watching grassroots regional NRL live at small grounds.

Hate watching NRL at stadiums.

Going to watch a pre-season Titans/Warriors game at Lismore this month.

That will be a good day out. As they’ll be trialing a few young hopefuls. Nothing on the line footy and a few beers is always fun.
