i pulled up at Bronte on the way past and there was a gaggle of local lads gathered on the hill eweing and ohhing at monster sets unloading way south off the reef. one suited up and ran down, i lost sight of him, i left and as i drove drive up past Maccas i slowed and looked over and saw a tiny black figure screaming down the face of a behemouth. he got swallowed up and, well i have no idea where he ended up. the rocks south of the pool were a cauldron of hostility, and i couldn't see him coming into the beach. which in itself would have been herculean.

i'm thinking kiddies corner option at Malabar tomoz if this swell holds overnight.

Woooo 10’ plus plus back bombie ledges, just me for 90 mins then a couple of kids for another 90mins

Splendid swell, so much energy, some seemingly more from an east angle but probably just long interval distorting on the continental shelf, the rest pouring up from quite an acute sth angle.

Heaps of it though, jumping up on the ledge, cool takeoffs driving into long drops and open water turns. I got totalled by one, the biggest one I got, 12’+? Took off for the hell of it because I was in the right spot, the steepest bit, kinda did a double drop going over a little ledgey bit half way down, easy though. Then it semi closed out to the far edge of the bombie reef. Oh great. Straightened out and tried to ride out the whitewater a bit but knew I was doomed. It chucked me through the air and I landed on my balls and got pulverised while in full ball ache mode.

Opening your second bottle of red whilst cooking your kids dinner is not the same as surfing 12ft bombies.

3.45 am rise tomorrow morning. Packing a 6”10 step up 2+1 set up. And an 8 foot pintail gun. #froth

Think I’ll give 12 foot semi close out reef bombies a miss though. Should be plenty of 6-8 foot good to perfect surf about many places down south.
