I dunno, I'm not seeing any Warrigal greens in the picture.

Let's see how Cranked likes it after a busy long weekend with restricted surf options.
Haha, as if. I arrive late Sunday and depart early Saturday. Its a whopping $9 a night too for us pensioners too! If the weather looks inclement or the surf too small, I'll stay in Perth.

I was the only person in the campsite when I left yesterday morning - surf was too small and blown out by the South Easterlies. Would be good now with the rise in swell, but I've probably got all year, no need to rush things.

I tried to get into Boranup Beach Lege but it was too risky in my ultra low ground clearance Ford Mondeo.

My surf accommodation until I can get back to the Bukit:

An esky, 3 boards, a tent and a bench. What else do you need?

While Cranky and I are on good terms, Thudster, I'm not sure our relationship is ready to have us moving in together in a two man tent. Camping is one of my three things I like the idea of but avoid at all costs. The other two are fishing and gambling.
Although since Cranky is Tea Totaller he obviously avoids the other pitfall of camping which is getting drunk from 11:00am.

Now I'm down at Avalon at 7am watching the strong offshore wreck a surfable swell.

I get way more good waves in a single session on the bukit than I get in WA in a month.

It’s a rarity but, I agree with every point you’ve made here.

Bondi. Some good banks for a grovel but just too crowded with Weekend Warriors.

Small insipid waves. Ok on fishy thing, I guess.

Best peaks taken by the youngens who are here for the QS 3000 event this week.

Made me think about the Lennox crew and their efforts to stop the full pro comp. It’s not the actual event that rankles but, the wave traffic it generates for those weeks. However, after seeing all those young guys and gals congregating on the beach and in the village I wondered what all the fuss was about.

The girls all looked like Steph Gilmore clones with long blond hair from another era, chirping away about this that and the other. The blokes a little more stoic and solitary. But, comfortable in the surroundings and happy to be here.

As a rate payer I didn’t/don’t have an issue with this event. I’ll just surf down the road if it’s too busy. The cafes were busier than usual and the shop keeps all smiling away.

I left pondering what the Lennox surfers had really gained from stopping these young adults experiencing Lennox and surfing the wave that they live near.

We had a WSL comp at my local and the couple days leading up to it there were a few fccckn rippers out, gotta say, as much as I thought it would be a shitfight it was cool surfing with them.. my experience of them super respectful, friendly and fccckn awesome to watch.

I was surfing Snapper one time when the grommet comp was on at Duranbah. In the afternoon a few would come over and surf the point. Only about shoulder high. The thing was they would all take off, do twenty turns, reos and cutbacks in the space of 10 mtrs and apologise to everyone as they were missing them by a few centimetres. I was as impressed by their manners as their surfing. The antithesis of the traditional annoying, up themselves little grommets of old.

More than ever, I think it's going to be super interesting for a lot of the NBs regulars, specially the newbies from Covid etc to see some of the CT crew surf in real life.

There's a LOT of surfers around here but dead set they have no idea the CT even exists, much less that JJF, Filipe, Steph etc are real people.

I'm gonna invite all of 'em to roam up and down, tell them where the nooks and crannies are. Basically unleash them on the citizenry. The lowest ranked CT pros are SO MUCH BETTER than anyone thinks. They're way better in real life than on the WSL's TV show. And the big guns are unbelievable. They're gonna blow VAL minds from the Joey to Deadman's.

No one has stopped anyone from experiencing anything you over cooked drama queen.
More pros surf here than any other wave in Oz.

And the cafes are overflowing every day of the week especially when there is a swell running.
